ANALYSIS – I don’t always agree with Tucker Carlson, though I often do. Sometimes he pushes unsubstantiated theories just for ratings. Sometimes he just says dumb things. Other times he is spot on – like now.
While in Budapest, Hungary, last week, Tucker Carlson lambasted Team Biden’s “dangerous and insane” State Department for targeting Hungary because “it’s a Christian country.” And Carlson would be partly correct. It is Christian based, and it is conservative.
Most recently, Team Biden is harassing Hungary over immigration. But the Biden administration’s disdain for Hungary goes well beyond that. (RELATED: Why US Conservatives Love Hungary’s Leader Viktor Orbán)
As The Blaze posted on ‘X,’ formerly known as Twitter, Carlson said:
“They hate Hungary because it’s a Christian country. Nobody wants to say it, but it’s true. That is enough to incite our policymakers in the United States and that is exactly why they hate Russia, by the way.”
Well, I will disagree with Carlson on Team Biden also hating Russia because it is Christian, since Russia also hacks the U.S. regularly and challenges the United States militarily everywhere from Alaska to the Middle East and Africa.
And, oh yes, Russia is in a brutal war of conquest against its democratic neighbor – Ukraine. (RELATED: Iranian Special Forces Are In Ukraine Helping Russia With Suicide Drones)
But that pro-Russian nonsense aside, Carlson is on much stronger footing regarding Biden’s harsh policies toward our democratic ally and NATO member Hungary.
“Even if everything about Hungary is repugnant to you, if you’re in the United States, you’re still not going to spend a lot of time hassling Hungary because Hungary isn’t hassling anybody else,” argued Carlson. And he is right.
Though I don’t agree with its current push for EU neutrality in the Russian war against Ukraine, Hungary does have a right to pursue policies it deems right (pun partly intended) for Hungary.
Some of those policies are religiously based, like restrictions against LGBT proselytizing, and sex change surgeries for minors.
Carlson noted Team Biden is pushing all these liberal ideologies on Hungary, which is outrageous. (RELATED: Police Warn Social Media User After Posting About ‘Adult Baby’ Speaking To Children)
Viktor Orbán’s conservative government also opposes open immigration, and restricts illegal entry, as we should, so Biden punishes everyday Hungarians for that.
As Newsmax reported, this month the Biden State Department announced it would restrict visa waivers for Hungarians seeking to enter the U.S.
Citing security concerns, Team Biden has also opted to drastically limit Hungary’s participation in the Electronic System for Travel Authorization program (ESTA).
ESTA allows citizens from 40 participating countries to travel to the U.S. for up to 90 days. (RELATED: This Government Agency Wants to Scan Your Face. What Are Your Rights?)
The Biden administration claims Hungary has been lax in granting passports to dual citizens and that is a security concern. Still, Hungary notes that it conducts security checks on all passport holders and has had no issues with dual citizens.
Other European countries also offer dual citizenship with passports and have not been targeted by Biden’s State Department.
But Team Biden hates conservative Christian Hungary on many levels. And Hungary isn’t even that overtly religious.
As Carlson noted: “It’s a soft Christian country, the softest ever: 300 years ago, people would look at modern Hungary and say, ‘That’s not a Christian country.’ But by modern standards, it’s one of the last countries that [openly] identifies as a nation built on Christian precepts.”
And that is enough to incur Team Biden’s wrath.
As Carson noted while in Budapest: “This doesn’t seem like a right wing hellscape to me. At all…” (followed by an awkward laugh). “As a matter of fact,” he added, “it reminds me of where I grew up – in America, circa 1985.”
That would be Ronald Reagan’s America. And that’s where I wish I was right now.
