Congressional Democrats have a well-documented predilection for impractical and draconian policies.
Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.) is no different. Despite gas prices soaring to $5.80 per gallon in California, Porter and fellow Orange County Congressman Mike Levin (D) have wanted to drive prices even higher.
Both Southern California Democrats cosponsored the benign-sounding Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act. They failed to mention that the Act would charge a tax on fossil fuel consumption. Such is a consequence of living in socialist-occupied Orange County.
If there’s a silver lining, it’s that Porter’s yearning to inflict greater pain at the pump should be a catalyst for her 700,000 constituents to send her home. Inflation already set a new four-decade high in February. Economists predict the surge in gasoline prices this month will push March’s inflation into the 10% range and the core inflation rate even higher.
Apparently, Porter — a bankruptcy expert — missed the grim irony of all of the economic hardship that’ll come to fruition should her renewable energy virtue-signaling tax become law.
It’s also worth noting that despite Orange County’s recent electoral competitiveness, Porter doesn’t fit her district. Like at all.
She’s the only Democrat past the municipal level wielding any government power. Moreover, while most of her constituents voted to recall America’s biggest COVID hypocrite, Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), Porter votes with President Biden’s radical agenda 98.2% of the time.
And yet she’s proven to be an elusive target for the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) the past two cycles. However, the proverbial target on her seat is bigger this year and political headwinds facing Democrats more formidable. Even better, she faces a top-tier challenger from Huntington Beach, Brian Burley. Brian is one of the youngest ‘America First’ congressional candidate running anywhere. He also has the most compelling life story of all the candidates running in California’s 47th District.
Aware of the mess we’re in, Brian remarks, “Our country is in dire straits. We have a senile Speaker of the House and an occupant in the White House who can’t tell left from right. What’s worse is these incompetent people are trying their damndest to spread socialism across this Country.” That same day, Southern California experienced its 23rd consecutive day of gas price increases.
But there is hope, ironically thanks in part to Democrats like Porter, who have pushed the party too far to the left. Brian believes that voters in the 47th District have had enough, passionately emphasizing that “the American people aren’t buying [the far-left agenda]. Democrat enthusiasm is at an all-time low. Look at what happened in Virginia just a few months ago. A political outsider curb-stomped a Clinton acolyte and Republicans took back their state.”
Indeed, swing districts throughout the country seem on track for an overdue course correction. And it’s worth noting that, according to the illustrious Cook Political Report, Virginia’s partisan makeup is substantially bluer than CA-47.
The averages from the latest polling data have Republicans up by a larger percentage in the generic congressional ballot than the Democratic Party’s voter resignation gains in Porter’s district. Bottom line? Republicans should have a more than fifty-fifty shot with the right kind of candidate.
And Brian’s confident he’s that candidate. “[Katie] was elected in a traditionally Republican district! There was no excuse for her to win in 2018, and there is absolutely no reason she should win this November, but,” he pauses for dramatic effect, “only if we run the right kind of Republican against her.”
Despite Porter’s socialist bona fides, Brian knows the journey to defeat her will be intense. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) announced the members of its frontline program months ago in a desperate attempt to hold on to their majority. Porter is one of their top members.
Besides having the right candidate to inspire the base, victory will likely come down to the hard work necessary to find the number of grassroots activists required to contact persuadable voters.
But Brian is no stranger to adversity. His commitment to persevere in the face of adversity stemmed from his mother’s tragic passing from cancer a decade ago. Despite the immeasurable loss, he explained how he “pulled [himself] out from underneath the poverty line to now owning a successful information technology and marketing business.”
A heartbreaking story of love lost ultimately blossomed into one that epitomizes the American Dream.
Brian’s mother would be proud.
While his tenacity isn’t in doubt and money isn’t necessarily the be-all and end-all at the congressional level, it pays for a degree of logistical support and panache that can make the difference between victory and defeat.
Katie Porter’s status as a DCCC Frontline member and ability to generate viral moments at committee hearings with pithy talking points and props straight from her local children’s theater has led to a significant number of donations, primarily from outside the district.
That said, prominent Orange County Republican Anna Bryson, president of the Orange County Congress of Republicans, not only endorsed Brian but recently stated, “Brian has been at the top of the fundraising curve in the race against Democrat Katie Porter this year. He has proven himself to be a tried and true conservative, keen on bringing back economic opportunity, conservative fiscal policy and less government control, which will stop in its tracks the negative ramifications of inflation produced by liberal economic policy. I, and the Orange County Congress of Republicans, trust Brian to represent the America First values that the 47th District desperately needs. He is the future of our party and will aggressively defend our seat in a way that marches forward to a Republican victory.”
Brian hopes to successfully differentiate himself from the other Republicans in the primary, including Congresswoman Michelle Steele, who announced she would run in the 45th District in 2022 due to redistricting.
Whereas Steele wears House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s endorsement like a lavish accouterment, Brian eschews ruling class accolades, defiantly saying, “We do not need another McCarthy-backscratcher in Congress! We need someone to take down the establishment, not side with them.”
“I am currently the youngest Republican elected official in California as I serve on the Orange County Central Committee,” he adds. “I have taken on the swampy establishment in this position as I have fought tirelessly to rebuild the Orange County Republican Party into a group that fights like President Trump does.”
From what I’ve gathered, his perspective much more closely aligns with today’s GOP base than his political rivals. His story is compelling, his worth ethic appears unmatched and his dream will resonate with almost all of you: ending Nancy Pelosi and Katie Porter’s days in Congress.
A top-two primary will take place on June 7, 2022 to determine which two candidates will run in the district’s general election.

Sen. Ruben Gallego Moves to Challenge Trump Green Card Policy
Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.
According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.
The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.
