New York Judge Arthur Engoron issued a limited gag order for all parties on Tuesday after Trump’s Truth Social account made a post targeting the judge’s principal clerk while she sat just feet away from him in the courtroom.
According to The Hill, the judge issued the gag order barring Trump and any party in the case from posting or speaking publicly about members of his staff after Trump released personally identifying information about his principal clerk.
The trial judge, without naming Trump, addressed the court on the matter, saying “one of the defendants” posted a “disparaging, untrue and personally-identifying post” about his staff, and though the judge ordered it deleted, it had been emailed out to “millions of other recipients.”
“Personal attacks on members of my court staff are not appropriate and I will not tolerate it under any circumstance,” Engoron said.
He added that he warned counsel off the record about the former president’s comments yesterday, but the warning went unheeded.
In a Truth Social post that went up while Trump was sitting in the courtroom Tuesday, Trump targeted Engoron’s principal law clerk — who was sitting just a few feet away — calling her “Schumer’s girlfriend,” that reposted a picture of her alongside Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a fellow New York Democrat.
It is unclear what connection, if any, Schumer has with the clerk.
Trump’s campaign on Tuesday also sent out an email shortly after the Truth Social post while the court was on a lunch break.
The gag order comes on the second day of the fraud trial.

Well, the judge has already declared Trump guilty even before the trial so what difference does it make? BTW as far as assessment of property value, I believe the lending institutions and the banks make their own assessment of property values (they are not simply accepted at face value as specified by the person requesting the loan) so if an independent person with no financial interest in what assessments were made has a problem with those assessments, perhaps he (it) should sue the bank or the person approving loans. If this judge is so willing to declare someone guilty before he (she) is tried maybe this judge is involved with the assessments made by the banks or lending officials in the case and perhaps fears for investigation into his (her) own culpability in financial deals involving loans and property assessments.
Oh so the judge’s clerk is in with Schumer and the judge is already proved to be biased. Yeah nothing like the N.Y. special dirty trial. We had a cop long ago that broke up the dirty cops in N.Y. – I think we need some lawyer that can break up the dirty justice system.
