A new Emerson College poll finds former President Donald Trump leading by a significant 9-point margin over President Joe Biden in the key battleground state of Pennsylvania.
The numbers suggest Trump’s message of economic growth and job creation resonates with Pennsylvanian voters. Still, 11% of respondents said they’d vote for someone else, and 8% are undecided, showing significant dissatisfaction with the candidates.
Among those who have already made their decision between Trump and Biden, the former president leads 45% to 36%. And voters hold strongly entrenched opinions of both men. (RELATED: New Poll Confirms Severity Of Democratic Party’s Chronic Headache)

Only half of those supporting Trump said they could not think of something Trump may do over the next few months that would cause them not to support the former president in the 2024 election, while 22 percent can think of something he could do that would make them switch their vote. A slightly larger sum of Biden supporters, 53 percent, said they could not think of something Biden could do to make them switch, and 17 percent said Biden could do something to prompt them to change their minds.
Support for Trump or Biden is also dependent on age groups, the poll found. Spencer Kimball, executive director of Emerson’s polling, said Biden leads Trump 44 percent to 39 percent among all voters younger than 40, but Trump leads Biden 45 percent to 39 percent among voters younger than 30.
The Pennsylvania voters were also asked about the 2016 and 2020 election results. Sixty-one percent said Trump won fairly in 2016 while 52 percent said Biden won fairly in 2020.
Biden carried his home state of Pennsylvania in 2020 with 50 percent of the vote while Trump garnered 48.8 percent of the vote. Trump had won the state in 2016 against then-Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
Emerson pollsters surveyed 430 voters in Pennsylvania from Oct. 1-4, with a margin of error of 4.7 points.
The RealClearPolitics polling average from Sept. 14 to Oct. 8 shows Trump with a single percentage point lead over the incumbent president.

President Trump has two sides of his coin. On one side is the time he is “off the clock” on his personnel time which is none of my business. After all he was born and raised in New York City! What do you expect? He’s brash, crude, blunt, arrogant but with a tender heart. This New Yorker may be hard to like, but I don’t care, it has no effect on my life. The man is genuine. What you see is what you get. Politicians like Biden are not genuine – trustworthy. On the coin other side, when “on the clock” working on things that affect me, he’s very intelligent with street smarts all politicians don’t have because they’ve lived in an ivory tower their entire working life. How can anyone “hate” the measures Trump accomplished while “on the clock”??! Inflation was around 1.5%. Name one thing he did as president that was not good for Americans. Do you think a president having had “affairs” during his life is a new thing? I don’t like it but most of them did. But it doesn’t affect me!??
