Move Trump Trial From DC Court To A Fortified Military Base

By Darwin Nercesian The Truth About Guns

A machete-wielding intruder had second thoughts when he found himself staring down the business end of a homeowner's 9mm handgun. The confrontation happened around 5 p.m. on August 21. Liberty Hill homeowner, Darryl Stevens, caught the intruder on camera attempting to break into his home, Fox 7 Austin is reporting.

Stevens and a contractor were looking out to the backyard when they noticed a machete-wielding man walking alongside a dog as he approached the.

THURSDAY  – If you must have the Trump trial in the nation's Capital, take it out of the heart of DC. Instead of fencing off and fortifying the D.C. courthouse, the author argues, it makes more sense (and is less expensive) to move the trial to a more secure location, such as a military base.

There is no law that says a trial must be held in a particular building, and there happens to be a military base conveniently located in the District: Fort Lesley J. McNair. Fort McNair houses the National Defense University (NDU) and Inter-American Defense College.

Any reasonably sized lecture hall could be modified for use as a courtroom. It's much easier to fortify a military post that already has limited access than to improvise a temporary citadel in the heart of Washington.

PLEASE NOTE, THIS IS THE AUTHOR'S OPINION, NOT MINE. I DON'T BELIEVE FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP SHOULD BE TRIED AT ALL, MUCH LESS IN THE LEFTIST D.C. SWAMP.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY – Here's a roundup of today's other top defense stories from conservative national security expert PAUL CRESPO.

Not the President's Daily Brief, but almost as good – PAUL'S DAILY BRIEFING – the PDB:

NATIONAL SECURITY

SEMPER FI BROTHERS. RIP – 5 Missing Marines Dead Following California Helicopter Crash. A search was underway in the remote area where it was lost after the crew went missing Tuesday with their helicopter scheduled to arrive at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, but was “reported overdue.”

4 Russian warplanes tracked in international airspace off Alaska. The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) tracked the aircraft on Tuesday.

Free college promises intensify military recruitment crisis. Our military is becoming an afterthought to the next generation, stoking a national security crisis.

HOMELAND SECURITY

Border congressman: ‘You don't reward terrorists, you kill terrorists.' Rep. Tony Gonzales, who represents the largest portion of the border in Congress, talks tough about the border and funding for Ukraine and Israel.

Californian accused of stealing secret US-made missile tech to assist China. The announced charges in two separate cases Wednesday over allegedly “sophisticated schemes to transfer sensitive technology, goods, and information” to benefit the governments of and Iran.

More than half of US veterans who own guns store them unsafely. A survey of U.S. veterans finds that more than half own firearms and, of those, 53% reported storing their guns unsafely.

US POWER OVERSEAS

NATO allies warn Hungary not to hold up Sweden's membership as US patience wears thin. National security adviser Jake Sullivan and his NATO counterparts cautioned Hungary on Wednesday against further delaying Sweden's membership in the military alliance.

POLITICS

Russia says ex-Fox News host Tucker Carlson interviewed Vladimir Putin. Russian strongman Vladimir Putin's interview with Carlson was confirmed by the Kremlin Wednesday. It is Putin's first interview with Western media since his brutal invasion of Ukraine two years ago.

JUST LIKE DEMOCRATS WANT TO DO TO TRUMP – Russian anti-war election candidate barred from running against Putin. Boris Nadezhdin has been barred from standing in Russia's presidential election next month, in a move that further clears the country's political landscape of opponents to Vladimir Putin.

IRAN THREAT

Drone strike in Baghdad kills senior militia commander. A U.S. drone strike hit a car in the Iraqi capital Wednesday night, killing three members of the powerful Kataib Hezbollah militia.

ISRAEL'S WAR ON TERROR

HE IS RIGHT! – Netanyahu says Hamas' demands on hostage and ceasefire deal are ‘delusional.' Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has dismissed Hamas' proposals for a deal in Gaza, in a setback to diplomatic efforts to pause the war.

IDF arrests US citizen in West Bank for ‘incitement on social media.' The arrest this week of an American woman by the Israel Defense Forces has prompted an outcry in the U.S.

CHINA THREAT

US defense requires greater civil support to counter China's cyber aggression. While much of Washington was transfixed recently by Mark Zuckerberg apologizing to families who had lost loved ones to online harassment, the national security community was focused on another Capitol Hill gathering related to digital malfeasance.

RUSSIA THREAT – UKRAINE WAR

Polish filmmaker deepfaked an entire movie ‘starring' Vladimir Putin and screened it for Ukrainian troops. Celebrity deepfakes – audio or video manipulated or created using generative AI technology to feature a prominent public figure (from Joe Biden to Taylor Swift) doing or saying things they probably wouldn't do – are becoming more pervasive with each passing day.

Front-line Ukrainian infantry units report acute shortage of soldiers. This is leading to exhaustion and diminished morale on the front line, military personnel in the field said this week — a perilous new dynamic for Kyiv nearly two years into the grinding, bloody war with Russia.

Ukraine needs more troops fighting Russia. Hardened professionals from Colombia are helping. Melodic Colombian Spanish fills a hospital treating soldiers wounded fighting Russian forces in eastern Ukraine.

Russia may be trying to build 10,000 attack drones a year for use in Ukraine. A purported cache of stolen Iranian documents also suggests Moscow is paying a lot more than expected.

INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

Finnish hyperspectral satellite firm Kuva moves into US market. Kuva Space is expanding operations with a new office in Fairfax, Va. in hopes of breaking into the Defense Department and Intelligence Community market.

Air Force investing $1.1 billion in its dormitories after report on poor living conditions.

Congressman wants military ‘out of the hotel business' to fix barracks. The military needs to get troops “out of the hotel management business,” said one congressman, and to let troops focus on their duties rather than fixing barracks issues.

Air Force seeks retirees to come back to active duty. Service offers up to four years on active duty for returning pilots, security forces and others.
