Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

ANALYSIS – Well, at least now conservatives can say Biden is a “convicted felon.” It may be Hunter Biden, and not his likely just as guilty dad, but it is something.

This made Hunter the first child of a sitting president to be convicted of a crime on Tuesday after a federal jury found him guilty on three counts related to lying about his massive drug use in order to buy a gun.

The first son faces up to 25 years behind bars – though a lighter sentence is much more likely since he has no prior convictions. No sentencing date has yet been set. (RELATED: Verdict Reached In Hunter Biden Trial)

Unlike Trump, Hunter would have easily avoided this entire ordeal by agreeing to a reasonable plea deal when he had the chance. Instead, acting with total hubris, he demanded blanket immunity from all future charges on prior crimes, which a judge correctly rejected.

But, like the criminal case against former President Donald Trump, this case should never have been brought to court. If he wasn’t Hunter Biden, just like if it hadn’t been Donald Trump, the case would never have seen the inside of a courtroom. (RELATED: Trump Takes First Step To Influence Sentencing)

But as they say, what’s good for the goose is good for the gander.

Meanwhile, in his gun case, Hunter was the prosecution’s best witness. As the New York Post reported:

The government used witness testimony, Hunter’s own communications, data taken from his infamous laptop and excerpts from his book “Beautiful Things” to prove that he was using crack around the time he bought the firearm.

Judge Maryellen Noreika had ruled before trial that prosecutors didn’t have to prove that Hunter was high the day he purchased the weapon.

Jurors heard a plethora of excerpts from the audiobook of Hunter’s memoir — narrated by the first son himself — describing his struggle with addiction and how he had a “superpower of finding crack cocaine anytime, anywhere.”

Still, this is just the beginning. Even as he appeals the guilty verdict, which could take months, this is not the end of Hunter Biden’s legal trouble.

He’s now scheduled to face a case in Los Angeles federal court beginning Sept. 5 for allegedly evading $1.4 million in federal income tax for the years 2016 through 2019.

That is a much more serious case. Drug addiction, like Hunter’s case in his gun trial, can garner some sympathy, as Team Biden hopes. However, allegations of financial crimes and tax fraud, will probably generate less sympathy from the voting public. And that case should also touch on Joe Biden’s involvement in Hunter’s business deals that produced the cash, the first son tried to hide from the IRS.

USA Today reported:

The jury’s judgement carries political implications as Democratic President Joe Biden campaigns for reelection against the presumptive Republican nominee, former President Donald Trump. Congressional Republicans have investigated Hunter Biden’s foreign business deals, which fueled the tax charges pending in his second trial, for possible influence peddling.

Joe Biden has claimed that he will not pardon his son.

One reader on the New York Post website said it well: “this is a sideshow. “10% for the big guy” should be on trial. Joe Biden took a piece of all of Hunter’s illicit dealings.”

In his tax fraud case Hunter Biden is charged with three felonies and six misdemeanors. Prosecutors allege the president’s son managed a “four-year scheme” when he did not pay his federal income taxes while also filing false tax reports.
