ANALYSIS – Republicans are learning to fight back. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire. And Missouri’s GOP Attorney General Andrew Bailey knows just how to do it.
He plans to sue the state of New York over former President Donald Trump‘s recent Manhattan trial and conviction on charges of falsifying business records, calling it “unconstitutional lawfare” and deliberate “election interference” against Trump.
The case, as with all the others brought against Trump, was brought solely to smear the presumptive presidential nominee going into November’s election.
Bailey is also claiming wrongful prosecution. More specifically, Bailey argues that the statute of limitations on misdemeanor business records falsification expired in 2019 and that the New York DA never specified “intent to commit another crime.” (RELATED: Judge Rejects Alvin Bragg’s Request To Stop Jim Jordan)
“We have to fight back against a rogue prosecutor who is trying to take a presidential candidate off the campaign trail,” he added. “It sabotages Missourians’ right to a free and fair election.”
As Newsmax reported:
Last month, Bailey told Newsmax that it’s clear that the Department of Justice colluded with Democrat prosecutors to go after Trump.
“Everyone can see the illicit nature of the prosecutions themselves,” Bailey told Newsmax’s “Rob Schmitt Tonight,” adding that the New York case, as well as other claims against Trump, “are not supported by the facts and the law.”
Bailey said he was demanding that the DOJ release communications with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis.
He also pointed out that the third-highest-ranking DOJ official, Matthew Colangelo, was assigned to Bragg’s office to help prosecute the case against Trump.
Bailey called out “their direct attack on our democratic process through unconstitutional lawfare against President Trump.”
Fox News added:
On Thursday, Bailey said on his podcast, “The Bailey Wire,” that his office would be taking steps to combat illicit prosecutions against the former president.
Bailey said it’s time to restore the rule of law.
“Radical progressives in New York are trying to rig the 2024 election. We have to stand up and fight back,” he exclusively told Fox News Digital.
Conservatives, such women’s rights activist and former competitive swimmer Riley Gaines were quick to applaud Bailey for this case and numerous other ones.
AG Bailey has been pivotal in shaping the cultural & political landscape.
He is in active litigation against the Biden Administration (challenging multiple departments), Planned Parenthood, Media Matters, etc.
Very few fight like he does. God bless @AGAndrewBailey
Last month, Bailey probed the Justice Department for documents related to any communications with prosecutors connected to the indictments of former President Trump.
This latest lawsuit is likely just the beginning of what’s expected to be the next wave of legal action, with red states suing blue states on Trump’s behalf.
The case, to be designated Missouri vs New York, will also likely reach the Supreme Court due to it being a legal conflict between two states.

MSNBC Host Says Trump Will Usher In Hitlerian Dictatorship
MSNBC talking head Joy Ann Reid has resorted to 2016 tactics, likening Trump to Hitler with exaggerated and outright fabricated talking points about his immigration plan.
On her show, she said, “While Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are barnstorming the country, talking about what they call an opportunity economy and making things more affordable for Americans, including housing, food, and starting a business, Donald Trump has forced another issue into the center of the campaign, with a lot of hem from right-wing media including Fox, his running mate’s admitted lies, the internet and social.
