Not everyone is thrilled…
Former President Bill Clinton adviser Doug Schoen shared on Tuesday that he has “trouble with the process” that led to Vice President Kamala Harris becoming the Democrats' new presumptive nominee.
Watch:
“I have trouble with the process that was put in place to very quickly rubber stamp her nomination. No mini primary, no open convention,” Schoen said. “Basically, the deal was done in 48 hours. I have a problem with that.”
Harris won 844 votes in her 2020 Democratic presidential primary run, winning zero delegates in the process, according to election data.
“If Donald Trump is an existential threat to democracy and the Democratic Party is now transferring money that was raised for Joe Biden to Kamala Harris and nominating her without any sort of primary or hearing process, who's the existential threat to democracy, the Democrats or the Republicans?” Schoen asked. “Donald Trump was nominated twice in competitive primaries. So I think that's a fair question, as well.”
At least 2,887 delegates have committed to supporting Harris as of Tuesday afternoon, with only 1,976 required to secure the Democratic nomination, according to the Associated Press.
“When I announced my campaign for President, I said I intended to go out and earn this nomination,” Harris stated on X. “Tonight, I am proud to have secured the broad support needed to become our party's nominee, and as a daughter of California, I am proud that my home state's delegation helped put our campaign over the top.”
The Harris camp raised $81 million in the 24-hour period after Biden's announcement that he was dropping out.
On Tuesday, Harris overtook Trump in the first major poll since Biden stepped down.
According to the latest data from Reuters/Ipsos, Harris is leading Trump in support, 44% to 42%, which falls within the survey's three point margin of error, the latest suggestion the race between the vice president and former president will be close.
Mediaite reported that Reuters had measured the popularity of Harris compared to Trump before, with the pair scoring an even 44% and Trump leading the vice president by one point in earlier July polls.

It’s not over until it’s over. If Old Joe dies in office she is the President. Just to say she is next in line seems a little to far out there even for most Dems. Just because DC says something does not make it TRUE. The Dems may well be in for a rude awaking.
I am so OVER Harris stating she’s a daughter of Californis. She lived there for what, 8 years as a kid? And then spent middle school and HS in French Canada, Montreal?
She lived as a CANADIAN there. Her mother was never a US citizen, never naturalized. So, do you think her INDIAN BORN MOTHER taught her anything about the USA other than to hate it? Both her parents were involved in black radical groups while they attended college in the USA. Harris’ father, Jamaican, was not a naturalized US citizen until DECADES later – somewhere before 2015, however, exact dates don’t come up on internet searches.
The only thing that makes Harris a citizen, is she is an anchor baby. To foreign born parents, one who never became a US citizen and the other who waited DECADES (student or teaching visas???) to get naturalized.
Any wonder why Harris is for OPEN BORDERS and illegals living in the USA without proper documentation. IT’S HER HERITAGE !!!
