ANALYSIS – Even as Democrats push the ridiculous “defending democracy” trope, their leftist anti-American minions defile and burn the symbols of American democracy – including the flag and replica of the Liberty Bell.
Many of us have seen the videos and photos of pro-Hamas, antisemitic mobs (some likely foreigners here on student visas, or here illegally as part of the Biden-Harris illegal alien invasion), causing mayhem during the visit of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Washington, D.C., on Wednesday.
The vile, violent mob of thousands of hateful leftist protestors removed two large American flags from the tall flagpoles at Columbus Circle, directly in front of the train station, and only a block from the U.S. Capitol, and lit them on fire.
They then replaced our flags with Palestinian flags in support of the Hamas terror group.
What a lot of us didn't see was how anti-Israel protesters assaulted heroic and patriotic U.S. Park Police and Park Service Ranger officers when the officers tried to defend American flags from being defaced, torn down or destroyed.
The New York Sun reported: “According to sworn statements from various Park Police officers in the police report, the mob of protestors at Columbus Circle… repeatedly interfered with arrests of their fellow agitators, refused to obey orders to back away, and even assaulted the officers.”
It added: “The testimony, as told, portrays a heroic defense of Old Glory by a severely undermanned Parks Police cohort.”
Providing more details, The Sun noted that:
One of the officers at the scene, Sergeant Cox, entered the crowd and approached the Columbus Circle flagpole after he saw individuals “10-15 feet off the ground manipulating rope and unraveling it from the pole,” he reported.
“As I entered the crowd, the flag was lowered to the ground.” he said. “When I was within 5 feet of the flagpole, [a] male in [a] red shirt was in possession of the American flag and [an] individual dressed in all black was also trying to remove it from the pole.”
Cox was able to detain their fellow flag-defiler, but soon after, Sergeant Cox and the arrestee were surrounded by an “agitated” mob of protestors who, he wrote, “attempted to interfere with the arrestee.”
This happened more than once.
Another officer, Officer Mogavero, was able to grab one flag-defiler who had attempted to flee the scene, Mogavero reported that protestors surrounded the two of them, tried to help the suspect escape police custody, and began assaulting the surrounding officers.
“The tearing down of the flag along with the subsequent arrest of a culprit helped to incite the mob to commit violence including assaulting officers,” Officer Mogavero later testified.
One protestor held his phone up at Mr. Mogavero and shouted, “BEHIND THAT BADGE, I WILL FUCK YOU UP!”
After the leftist mob violence at Union Station, the U.S. Park Police announced it was revoking the permit for Columbus Circle.
At the Capitol earlier, the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) pepper-sprayed and arrested some demonstrators in the early afternoon, before they moved on to Union Station.
“The crowd failed to obey our order to move back from our police line. We are deploying pepper spray towards anyone trying to break the law and cross that line,” USCP wrote in a post on X shortly before 2 pm.
Of course, the District's left-leaning U.S. Attorney who doubles as the D.C. attorney general is very selective in prosecuting leftists. As opposed to pro-Trump protestors.
The Washington Post reported that while 23 people were arrested in the demonstrations, the D.C. attorney general's office dropped cases against 11 for misdemeanor crimes.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the Park Police Fraternal Order, Kenneth Spencer, railed against the “officer staffing crisis” in a statement noting that in this shameful incident the vastly outnumbered police force made 10 arrests while “being assaulted by a mob of thousands.”

When a mob/riot it vandalizing Federal property and physically interfering with the police in performing their duties, the police ought to be authorized to resort to use of deadly force. If they are physically assaulted while in the performance of their duties, they ought to be allowed and encouraged to use whatever force is necessary to defend themselves and carry out their duty. This isn’t some sort of video game.
Put all of them on a one-way flight to Gaza and never allow them back into the USA. They say they hate America and love Hamas, so let them live there. We won’t miss them at all.
“That wouldn’t happen in a small town.” Anywhere else and not long ago, removing a county’s flag on its sovreign soil and attempting to replace it with a foreign nation’s flag would be considered treason at least, and an act of war at most.
And kudos to the Park Police for their stellar handling of the situation in the absence of reinforcement from other law enforcement or military.
