Iran Covertly Trying To Keep Trump From Being Reelected

ANALYSIS – Iran collusion. Where are they now? Democrats spent years making baseless “Russia collusion” claims against former President Donald Trump.

After being thoroughly debunked, the Democrats' Russia accusations have now instead morphed into the equally ridiculous Trump is “a threat to democracy” trope.

Meanwhile, as I have repeatedly explained, Joe Biden and his merry band of treasonous leftists, have been openly colluding with, enabling and even funding Iran's terror regime with tens of billions of dollars. All while his national security team has been infiltrated by Iranian agents.

But now, we learn, with Biden dropping from the race and the terror masters losing its dupe in the White House, and fearing a Trump victory this November, Iran has gone on the offense to damage Trump.

This, in addition to credible evidence that the regime has targeted Trump for assassination, partly in response to his unprecedented decision to take out Iran's terror chief, ‘General' Qasem Soleimani, in January of 2020.

There's no indication that Thomas Matthew Crooks, the would-be assassin who attempted to kill the former president at a rally in Pennsylvania on July 13, was connected to the Iranian plot.

But now we see phase two of Iran's influence campaign.

The Iranian efforts to manipulate and influence the Biden team initially focused on getting Biden to lessen or drop sanctions against the regime. Biden complies. The regime next wanted the U.S. to coerce its allies to also not reimpose sanctions on its clandestine nuclear program. Biden complied.

All of this to allow them to steadily build their nuclear capability even as Team Biden pursued a fatally flawed and failed nuclear deal started by Team Obama-Biden in 2015. 

Since Barack Obama never asked for, nor received, Senate ratification the deal did not have the force of law, and Trump was able to quickly negate it by withdrawing America from it.

For the reasons noted above Tehran is deathly afraid of a Trump return.

In addition to trying to kill him, Iran is also “using covert social media activity and related influence operations in an effort to undercut the candidacy of former President Donald Trump, a US intelligence official said Monday in an updated assessment of threats to the November election.,” according to CNN.

The outlet adds:

The US intelligence community has “observed Tehran working to influence the presidential election, probably because Iranian leaders want to avoid an outcome they perceive would increase tensions with the United States,” the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) said in a statement.

The recent Iranian influence activity has come in the form of “covert social media accounts and related activity,” the official from ODNI said at a media briefing when CNN asked for examples of the activity.

Iran's preference for a US presidential candidate has not changed since 2020, the ODNI official said. In the 2020 election campaign, Iran “carried out a multi-pronged covert influence campaign intended to undercut former President Trump's reelection prospects,” according to a declassified US intelligence report.

To be fair, ODNI also believes Russia prefers Trump in office, and is conducting its own pro-Trump influence operations, as it says Russia did in 2020. This, even as Trump sanctioned Russia harsher than Obama-Biden before him, and pushed NATO to spend more on its own defense and end its reliance on Russian gas.

All this, while avoiding a Russian invasion of Ukraine which occurred under both Obama and Biden.

Still, Iran's anti-Trump campaign is very strong. And so is its anti-Israel effort. “Tehran relies on vast webs of online personas and propaganda mills to spread disinformation and have notably been active in exacerbating tensions over the Israel-Gaza conflict,” the ODNI said in its statement.

If Trump wins, expect his team to take a dramatically different approach to dealing with Iran than the weak and compromised Biden team.
