The notoriously left wing Rolling Stone is attacking two rappers for releasing a pro-Trump song.
Of course, the author of the article is entitled to their own opinions, but their assessment of the song was drenched in partisan bias they made no attempts to conceal.
The writer uses the entire article as an opportunity to preach and profess his Marxist, cliche, race-obsessed worldview, and attack the character of these rappers, making all sorts of assumptions about their character and motivations with little evidence to support his claims beyond his very strong opinions. He seems entirely unable to separate himself from his politics — even momentarily.
In one paragraph, he writes:
I've previously written about the fascism of Project 2025, a platform Trump keeps lying about being complicit in. Even if we choose to believe him, his publically acknowledged platform, Agenda 47, also vies to damage communities in Fivio's native New York City and Kodak's native Pompano Beach, Florida. Trump plans to cut federal funding to any school teaching “critical race theory,” push broken-windows policies like “stop and frisk” (which don't address the root cause of crime), and push for the death penalty for drug dealers. Trump also wants to roll back Biden's climate-change policies. The history of environmental racism in America shows that poor communities will be the last to receive the aid they need as climate change causes extreme weather events like hurricanes to become more common.
This seems to be a feature of the modern American left. They're more focused on weaponizing policy to paint their opponents as bigots than any substantive discussion on the issues. As much as liberals criticized “stop and frisk,” New York was actually much safer when the policy was implemented. “Critical race theory isn't actually critical to any child's development or education. And contrary to popular belief, giving more money to the government will not stop natural disasters.
There's been a full-on love affair for Trump, who takes after too many rappers as a flashy loudmouth with alarming narcissism, a knack for riling the news cycle, and no sense of nuance. People have framed “ONBOA47RD” as shocking, but it shouldn't be anymore. Trump's political presence has elucidated mainstream hip-hop's decay into a cesspool of violent, ignorant, bigoted patriarchy. But perhaps these embarrassments were inevitable in a capitalistic pursuit.
Here, the author misses the forest for the trees, coming within arm's reach of understanding Trump's appeal to rappers, but is again unable to see past his own point of view.
His assessment of the song is particularly rich coming from the same writer that praised Ice Spice's New York Show as “electric” and the performer herself as a “budding icon” and “rap sensation” despite a surprising portion of her discography revolving around fecal matter, constantly using phrases like “poopie,” and “dookie,” with one of her hit songs known as “Fart.”
Rappers like 50 Cent, Waka Flocka Flame, Lil Pump and Kanye West have all come under fire for their public support of the former president, but that hasn't seemed to deter any of them, and it seems that his support among hip hop artists is only growing.
Kodak Black has more of a reason to support Trump, following his 2021 pardon in the final days of the Trump administration, commuting his sentence and getting him out of prison. He also pardoned Lil Wayne — one of few rappers to publicly support him ahead of the 2016 election.
Trump also got rapper A$AP Rocky out of Swedish prison in 2019, famously tweeting “A$AP Rocky released from prison and on his way home to the United States from Sweden. It was a Rocky Week, get home ASAP A$AP!”

Good job. Keep going.

This writer shouldn’t be permitted a weapon and should not be allowed to stand near any precipice. Perhaps we should send him some chamomile tea and a vase of daisies. After that, let’s send him to Venezuela for the next four years to see who he wants to vote for when he gets back.

Rebecca, the only retort they have is to lie about the narrative. It’s all they know.
Rolling Stone???? Is that rag still around? I thought that went out with bellbottoms.
Does anyone really care about the politics of an entertainer whose product they enjoy. I think not, but if it came into conversation they might condemn the thought. We don’t care what they think as long as we enjoy their performance. Don’t push your politics in my face and I promise not to tell you to eff off.
