Brooklyn, New York DA Promotes Holiday Gun Buyback at Church

-

A group of agencies in wants to make some folks' Christmases a little cheerier this year by offering bank cards of up to $500 as well as IPads in exchange for .

The “Cash for Guns” buyback event is scheduled to take place this Saturday, December 17th at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY.

The event is co-sponsored by the following law enforcement officials and community organizations in the area:

It is notable that the gun buyback event is taking place at a church, despite religious institutions being on a list of prohibited places for firearms in New York – per legislation passed in Albany and signed into law by New York Governor Kathy Hochul earlier this year – in the aftermath of the Supreme Court's ruling in the NRA-backed case of NYSPA v Bruen.

New York law enforcement officials also seem to have a habit of classifying BB guns to be as dangerous as real guns. Earlier this fall, a Precinct of the New York City Police celebrated the confiscation of fake guns on their official Twitter page – the same way they would have if they had taken real guns off of the streets.

Still, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez believes that such events are successful and an effective part of a “comprehensive strategy to reduce gun violence”. It is also the third event of this kind his team has participated in this year.

Participants can receive a $500, $150, or $50 bank card depending on the type of firearm (or replica) they bring in. Current or retired law enforcement members are not allowed to participate, and neither are licensed gun dealers. Still, there may not be a way to prove such status of a participant as “no identification is required, and all transactions will be anonymous, no questions asked.”

  1. I suppose it must have slipped their minds that the only people taking advantage of this are ones who don’t plan to use their guns to make a living!

  2. These gun buy-back programs are always a joke. ALWAYS!

    What a bunch of feel-good, left-wing, anti-gun, liberal loser, self-pleasurers.

  3. Pardon a perhaps silly question, but I continue to wonder as to the following. How can people uninvolved in the sale of something possibly run or operate a “Buy Back”?

  4. Stupid is as stupid does and the voters put this trash in office while nothing is done about the illegal gun trade in all lib meccas.
