People get kind of impatient in the McDonald’s drive-through, but one man pushed it to a new level with a fatal road rage shooting. Chalk it up to being hangry, low blood sugar, poor self-control, or whatever you please, we just thought it was only a matter of time before this happened.
After all, in those drive-throughs where there are two lines to order, but they merge into one to get your stuff, people are downright vicious. We’ve seen near collisions because people don’t want to wait another second to get their chicken nuggies and Frappuccino.
This drive-through road rage fight happened in Florida, because of course it did, and more specifically in Daytona Beach. A Miami Herald report on it discloses few details, probably because police are actively investigating exactly what happened.
It sounds like this was either a case of self-defense or homicide. What started as a fight in the drive-through moved to a physical altercation in the parking lot. When police arrived they found one man with a gunshot wound as a woman tried saving his life.
Another man approached officers and admitted he was the one who shot the other guy. He claimed the other one attacked and he feared for his life, so he fired a shot. Exactly what that means isn’t entirely clear but we’re sure the investigation is focusing on that heavily.
It’s amazing how people can get so worked up over something that’s at worst a small slight, treating another person just trying to get food or drive down the street as a threat to their life. We’re not weighing in on what happened in this situation since we have no details but instead are just referring to road rage in general.
The best thing you can do if someone does try starting a road rage fight with you is to stay in your vehicle with the windows up while calling police for help. Filming whatever the other person does isn’t a bad idea. But whatever you do, avoid escalating things or the situation might turn deadly.
