A prominent member of the Jan. 6 Committee announced last night that he has a “serious but curable form of cancer.”
Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., revealed the news to the world in a statement Wednesday evening, noting that he will begin outpatient treatment.
The New York Times further reports:
Mr. Raskin, 60, who is a member of the House Jan. 6 committee and was recently chosen to become the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee, said he had diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and would soon begin a course of outpatient chemo-immunotherapy.
“I expect to be able to work through this period but have been cautioned by my doctors to reduce unnecessary exposure to avoid Covid-19, the flu and other viruses,” Mr. Raskin said in a statement. “In addition to destroying cancer cells, chemotherapy impairs natural antibodies and undermines the body’s immune system. I am advised that it also causes hair loss and weight gain (although I am still holding out hope for the kind that causes hair gain and weight loss).”
Mr. Raskin said he plans to “get through this and, in the meantime, to keep making progress every day in Congress for American democracy.”
Few members of Congress have been as aggressive in trying to hold former President Donald J. Trump accountable for the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol as Mr. Raskin, a former constitutional law professor at American University and Maryland state senator.
The Times adds that Raskin is the chief architect behind 25th amendment legislation that would enable Congress to set up an “independent nonpartisan body” to determine presidential fitness if psychological or physical developments should warrant it.
The congressman also recently published a memoir about how his perspective changed in the wake of the U.S. Capitol riot and the death of his son.

We’re going to see a lot of illnesses and career ending circumstances crop up and it’s best they resign. The reasons will be mysterious and otherwise, in the R.I.N.O. and commie democrat community (kinda’ like John McCain and some others). It’ll be “get out, while the gettin’s good” for the ones trying to destroy our “republic.” The rats are leaving the sinking ship of what they THINK is a democracy…they don’t even know what form of government we have, but at least they’ll be gone. If this guy’s problem is real…pray for him…if not, bye bye!
