House Democrats Insinuate Republican Colleagues Might Shoot Up Congress

-

Whataboutism abounds in these days. It's often derided as a straw-man argument to marginalize legitimate criticism. Sometimes, though, it's worth asking.

For example, what if sitting Republican representatives said publicly that their Democratic colleagues were unstable and might gun them down? How would the mainstream react?

It's safe to assume that pearl-clutching, bordering on pandemonium, would consume the news cycle for several days. You might be surprised to learn that's what Rep. , D-Calif., and others told the progressive news website, Raw Story.

What's less surprising is the media's collective yawn at the ad hominem attacks.

Here's what Congressman Swalwell said verbatim:

A lot of my Republican colleagues glorify violence and proudly display the firearms they have in their offices, so it just makes me nervous that we could have a workplace violent event. They're not the most stable people.

Mediaite‘s Caleb Howe has more on the outrageous remarks:

He deliberately and explicitly referred to his “Republican colleagues” in his response, saying they have firearms and aren't stable. Not their constituents or friends, but they themselves.

That's a serious accusation. A sitting Democrat Representative said he is afraid that, without metal detectors, Republican Representatives may shoot him and others, might commit murder on the floor of the U.S. House.

Howe notes that Democrats' hyperbole has escalated since the new GOP majority decided to remove metal detectors installed at the entrances to the House floor after the Jan. 6, 2021, riot.

Metal detectors at all entrances to the U.S. Capitol and House and office buildings remain, as do the phalanx of U.S. Capitol guarding them and more officers patrolling .

The Raw Story noted that multiple members of fear violent outbursts from Republican representatives. Especially from those they deem conspiracy theorists.

Fox News has more:

Left-wing site Raw Story spoke with Swalwell and other Democrats about their concerns of being victims of violence. Swalwell said it was a “recipe for disaster” and Rep. Dan Kildee, D-Mich., said it's a “frightening group of people over there.” The Congressman added that he no longer counts on a lack of “crazy” things after the chaos two years ago.

Rep. Pramila Jayapal, D-Wash., agreed with the Raw Story reporter's remark that it was “scary” to live in a “QAnon reality” with possibly armed Republicans. Rep. Lauren Boebert, R-Colo., has played coy about whether she'll carry a gun on the House floor after she celebrated the departure of the magnetometers.

“This is the new reality,” Jayapal said. “Unfortunately.”

“There have been increased threats to members of Congress. There's been an increase in in this country, and I think we have a responsibility to make sure that people come to work—this is a workplace—that they could do so safely and free from any fear of violence, particularly gun violence,” Rep. David Cicilline, D, R.I., told Raw Story.

  1. Pretty amazing. So some Republican Congressmembers refuse to vote for a new chair until he agrees to an end to omnibus bills, 72 hours to examine new legislation, separate appropriations bills, the right to propose amendments on the floor. All this results in Democrats melting down about “chaos” and “violence.” What these people propose is cold tyranny by an elite who ignore the voice of the citizens.

  2. More ridiculous ideas and comments from radical democrats. More efforts to divide instead of unite and cooperate on problem solving.

  3. INTERESTLY, They forgot to mention their own inciting violence such as Maxine Waters, Pelosi and Chucky Schumer on the steps of the Capital and there are more besides them. HYPOCRISY STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN !!!!!!!!!

    • I don’t think they “forgot” at all. I think it was intentional like every other coldly calculated piece of Marxist gibberish they have uttered for the last decade. It is never by accident, it is always planned well in advance, maybe even analyzed by focus groups and polls before they ever roll it out. They are propagandists first last and always in the new party of Marx, the democrat party.

      • god will send his god worshiping globalists and his god worshiping globalist puppets to heaven; soros and chester biden and demonrat criminal party and rino criminal party and media and altar boy raping demonrat priests and his demonrat criminal voters .

  4. god continues to bless his globalists and his globalist puppets; soros and chester biden and his demonrat criminal party and his rino criminal party and his media and his altar boy raping demonrat priests and his demonrat criminal voters and all his CRIMINAL organizations; doj, fbi, cdc, irs, usps, cia, fda, fcc, fisa, tsa, un, nato etc .

  5. jesus christ continues to bless his globalists and his demonrat criminal party and media just like jesus christ continues to bless his altar boy raping demonrat priests .

  6. I’d be a hell of a lot more scared around the Democrat House members than any of the Republicans. It’s not Republicans committing mass shootings in Americans. Check the voter registrations of mass shooters and you won’t find Republicans, but plenty of democrat sympathizer!
