Adam Schiff can breathe a sigh of relief… for now.
On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted against formally rebuking Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) for building up allegations of collusion between Russia and former President Donald Trump.
Last month, Freshman Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) introduced a resolution that would fine Schiff $16 million for his claims that former President Trump colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election.
“The GOP Conference agrees that Adam Schiff has betrayed the trust of the American people, purposely abused positions of extreme authority, lied continuously, and as such, must be held to account,” Luna said. “Accordingly, the resolution requires Rep. Schiff to pay a $16 million dollar fine, half of the cost American taxpayers were forced to pay for the Russia hoax investigation.”
However, prior to Wednesday's vote Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) said while Schiff acted “unethically,” the measure was unconstitutional because it would violate the 8th and 27th Amendments.
“Allowing a majority of Congress to take $16 million (92 years of pay) from any member of Congress is shortsighted,” Massie tweeted after the vote. “Can we not imagine a time when this precedent would be used against conservatives? Fortunately it failed.”
Rep. Schiff, who is currently running for Senate, said that he will wear Wednesday censure attempt as a “badge of honor.”
“Today's partisan and failed attempt to censure me is a badge of honor that I will wear proudly,” Schiff said in a tweet after the vote on Wednesday. “MAGA Republicans are going after me because I dared to hold Donald Trump accountable. These efforts to intimidate me will not succeed. I will always defend our democracy.”
Luna sought to clarify that the financial penalty in the motion was a “suggested fine that can be paid with campaign funds, like any other fine levied by Ethics,” but that did not alleviate the concerns.
In a tweet that talked about dispelling any “confusion,” Luna said she would file a new measure to censure Schiff and send it to the House Ethics Committee. “See you next week Adam,” she said.
Massie indicated he would support the new resolution
“Thank you for removing the part that several of us thought was unwise and/or unconstitutional,” he said in a tweet directed at Luna. “Many of us are looking forward to voting for your better version.”

What a relief! Go get that shifty b-tard!
Republican representatives have no spine, no resolve. Schiff is thumbing his nose at all their constituents. He and his colleagues will continue these antics unapologetically unless they are stopped.
Next time, I will have to do a better job in trying to get my Rep. to vote on the new resolution.
