After a years-long legal fight, congressional Democrats have won a major battle in their war against former President Donald Trump.
The Supreme Court ended Trump’s vigorous attempt to shield his tax records in November. Last night, the powerful Ways and Means Committee voted to make six years of the 45th president’s tax returns and those of some of his businesses public.
The committee voted 24-11. Ranking Member Kevin Brady, R-Texas, said afterward that the decision would set a dangerous precedent.
CNBC has the latest, including a report the Joint Committee on Taxation has posted online:
The report reveals that Trump on his federal tax returns declared negative income in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2020, and that he paid a total of $1,500 in income taxes for the years 2016 and 2017.
On their 2020 income tax returns, Trump and his wife Melania paid no federal income taxes and claimed a refund of $5.47 million, according to the report by the staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation.
The report was posted online shortly after the Ways and Means Committee voted to make public redacted versions of Trump’s full income tax returns, and those of eight related business entities for the tax years 2015 through 2020.
Those full returns are expected to be released in the coming days.
As a presidential candidate in 2016, Trump broke with recent tradition by declining to release his tax returns.

When Donald Trump gets back in office, I hope he makes all of those scum bags hand over their taxes and make them public, just so they can see what it feels like.
Don’t hold your breath that the Donald will be returning to DC in any official capacity. His poll numbers show his fan base is declining very sharply with the smarter ones switching to backing DeSantis for the nomination. I can’t see Trump getting a majority of the votes of the nominating committee. Trump did a pretty good job but it’s time to move on.

So the people who decide the tax laws are trying to discredit trump using his taxes. If he filed his yearly taxes , and they were accepted as correct, then what did he do wrong. This only proves how ignorant our government is, they are the ones who voted in these thousands of tax codes that can be deciphered 100 different ways by 100 different tax specialists Bring out his taxes, and maybe the people will wake up to our completely inept legislative and executive branch. National sales tax is needed This way we can vote with our purchasing power.
How about we release the S-corporation part of BIDEN’S tax returns, which he hasn’t released, and see if he declared the “Big Guy” millions he extorted from foreign countries? Or the Pelosis crooked gains from insider information on sticks?

Don’t hold your breath waiting on all the high profile democrats opening up all their tax returns. Just seeing their 1040 form really tells you very little, we need to see all those additional forms that show so much more about what they are doing every year. Wonder what would be their outcry would be then? Pretty sure they would say that those things are private and should be shown to the public. Private for them but not for Trump.. What a bunch of phony left wingers.
What was or is the LEGISLATIVE purpose of obtaining President Trump’s tax returns? So far the only thing I have seen from the House of Representatives is gloating. No legislation has been proposed. These people do not even know what goes into creating a tax return. I would bet that not a one of them can do their own tax return let alone analyze one from another person or entity. And I thought it was illegal to publish tax returns without the taxpayer’s permission.
When will the new congress release Biden’s tax returns? I seriously doubt Joe declared any of the 10% for The Big Guys for each of Hunter’s dealings with Ukraine, China, North Korea, and his other clients around the world. Those payment have to amount to a very tidy chunk of change. Is Biden too old to serve a long prison sentence?
I read an article on Biden’s taxes. He didn’t include monies he and Jill made with speaking engagements, his and her book deals and of course as said the “Big Guys” 10%.

What this proves is everything Democrats said to the courts was a lie!
The law requires the federal government to keep everything in tax returns private and secure. The Democrats argued in court that they needed Trump’s tax returns to be able to review how the IRS audits Presidential returns. That was a lie. They were NOT authorized to break the law and release Trump’s returns.
He followed the law . Great accountants and Lawyers. So , to you Libs , what’s he guilty off ? He didn’t receive a paycheck and donated in the millions. So what is he guilty of ? Libs should demand Biden’s , Obama’s , Shumers ,Pelosi , Warren , Sanders and will throw in all the RINOs

I think we need to see the tax returns of the Supreme Court Justices who are bound by no ethics rules at all. Heck, just make EVERYONE’S tax returns public. Maybe THAT would finally cause the public to insist on the elimination of income taxes and their replacement by sales taxes only.
