Indiana Rep. Jim Banks Announces Run for US Senate

-

Conservative Rep. , R-Ind., is running for the U.S. , to fill the seat being vacated by Republican .

Sen. Braun declared his candidacy for governor of last month.

Banks revealed his campaign news in an exclusive interview with Breitbart News this morning.

The Hoosier State politician told the outlet America needs more “conservative fighters” in the Senate.

“Indiana deserves a conservative in the Senate,” Banks said in an interview ahead of his announcement on Tuesday morning. “Mike Braun has been a reliable conservative in his term. He announced he's running for governor, so it's an open seat. I just believe I'm the type of conservative leader that Hoosiers are looking forward to send[ing] to the Senate. I've been a leading conservative in the House on issues like securing the border and on America First policies like getting immigration policies to put American workers first and foreign policy that puts America First over the interests of other countries. The national debt, $32 trillion, is greatly concerning to me when I see the Senate passed a $1.7 trillion omnibus bill without any fight against it in the Senate. As one of the most fiscally conservative members of the House, it makes me angry. It's why I want to go to the Senate, to shake it up and be a part of the next generation of conservative leaders like , JD Vance, and others who are over there fighting the fight. I want to go join.”

Banks has represented Indiana's 3rd Congressional District since 2017. He currently chairs the Republican Study Committee, which promotes right-wing policy prescriptions for our nation's problems, including an alternative budget every year since 1995.

The Republican Study Committee is currently the largest ideologically-driven caucus in Congress.
