Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) is under mounting pressure as a series of scandals raise new questions about his judgment, associations, and use of political power.
Earlier this week, journalist Jill Savage released a 2014 marriage certificate showing Mills was married by Mohammed Al-Hanooti — an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing. The ceremony, recorded in Fairfax County, Virginia, links the congressman to a figure once central to federal terrorism investigations.
At the time, Al-Hanooti served as mufti of Dar Al-Hijrah Mosque in Falls Church, a place long associated with radical networks, including those connected to al-Qaeda recruiter Anwar al-Awlaki.
I met Cory Mills & thought he was great. Then I found his marriage certificate in March.

The disclosure has fueled concerns about how Mills — now chair of the House Foreign Affairs Oversight and Intelligence Subcommittee and a key voice on U.S. policy in Syria — came into contact with such figures.
Mills denied converting to Islam, saying he has “always been a Christian.” But The Blaze cited multiple sources who claim otherwise.
Questions About Arms Deal and Syrian Meeting
Mills is also facing scrutiny over his business dealings.
Pacem Defense, the weapons firm he co-founded with his wife, landed a $228 million contract with Iraq during its first year of operation. That deal was later audited after Iraq’s defense minister was removed in a no-confidence vote.
Mills’ April meeting with Syrian President Farouk al-Sharaa, himself once linked to extremist groups, has added to criticism that he is blurring the line between public duty and private interests.
Controversial Vote, GOP Fallout
The controversies come on the heels of Mills’ Sept. 17 vote to block a censure of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) over her comments on the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Mills cast the deciding vote and framed it as a defense of free speech — even while calling for an investigation into Omar over alleged immigration fraud. The contradiction prompted backlash from within his own party.
Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., criticized Mills’ position as “gross” and “very disappointing,” adding that she had flagged his name to President Trump as a Republican “willing to stand with The Squad.”
Accusations of Extortion and Revenge Porn
In Florida, Mills is facing arguably more serious allegations.
Lindsey Langston, a former Miss United States and GOP committeewoman in Columbia County, has accused Mills of threatening to release sex tapes following their breakup earlier this year.
Langston filed a police complaint on July 14 and told Blaze Media that Mills “put it in writing” that he kept explicit recordings and threatened to send them to future romantic partners. One text, which Langston shared, allegedly reads: “I can send him a few videos of you as well. Oh, I still have them.”
Langston described a volatile relationship that began in 2021. She said Mills frequently received “money bags” late at night and was later served with an eviction notice for more than $85,000 in unpaid rent on his Washington penthouse.
She said she left in February after another woman, Sarah Raviani, reported domestic violence at Mills’ apartment. Although Raviani later recanted, Langston said Mills’ threats began shortly after she moved out.
Legal Fallout and Federal Implications
Langston’s attorney, former Republican state Rep. Anthony Sabatini, called the case “sexual extortion and sexual blackmail to an extreme degree,” and urged authorities to act.
The investigation is now being handled by both the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The case may test Florida’s extortion laws and a new federal measure — the Take It Down Act, signed by former Trump in May — that targets the non-consensual sharing of explicit material.
Langston has also filed for a restraining order. In her petition, she alleges that Mills tried to sabotage her political prospects by claiming her name was being circulated “negatively in Mar-a-Lago and within some DeSantis circle.”
“I feared what silence might allow,” she said.
Political Fallout Mounts
The allegations — from links to a radical cleric to shady arms deals to potential revenge porn — have left Mills navigating overlapping personal and political crises.
With investigations underway and pressure building inside his party, questions now loom over whether he can continue to lead in Congress — or whether resignation is the next logical step.

Kinda weak so far, but Mills still seems as slimy as any politician. Ain’t they all? (Few exceptions) is he related to the late Wilbur mills?
Why is Rep. Cory Mills still in this position, Chair of the House Foreign Affairs Oversight and Intelligence Subcommittee and a key voice on U.S. policy in Syria ???????
