Video: McConnell Stops Speaking During Presser, Appears Unable To Resume Talking

-

The look in the eyes of Senate Minority Leader 's colleagues said it all.

The Kentucky Republican, age 81, stopped speaking abruptly during a press conference with members of the Senate GOP leadership. He remained silent for an extended period of time at the podium, appearing unable to resume talking.

Eventually, Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) led the longtime Republican leader away.

McConnell's absence on Capitol Hill earlier this year following extensive injuries in a fall at a D.C. hotel briefly ignited retirement rumors. (RELATED: Spokesperson Reveals Extent Of McConnell's Injuries)

A consummate political operator, the senior senator tweeted a thinly-veiled message aimed at his younger, ambitious Republican colleagues.

As American Liberty News reported at the time:

The minority leader has stayed out of public view since he fell and suffered a concussion on March 8. Following a lengthy stay at a D.C. hospital followed by inpatient treatment at a physical rehabilitation facility, the Kentucky Republican returned home, where he worked remotely.

  1. Perfect. The top D in the land is shaking hands with ghosts when not falling down and now the top R in the land can’t speak. Maybe we can start electing people who are not 185 years old?

  2. We just witnessed a standing stroke. I hope he’s ok but its WAY past time for age limits in D.C…..

  3. I am not a McConnell fan, although I will always be grateful that he scuttled the Garland Sup. Ct. nomination and got Trump’s other three stellar nominees onto the court. As a person who has endured a head injury (landmine), I understand that one will have good days and bad days (when your mind and particularly your speech doesn’t seem to work). I hope to be as cogent as he is at 81.

  4. Good now maybe he will be put out to pasture and about time hasn’t done a thing for republicans stonewalled all the time needs to go.

  5. Nobody who looks that frail should be serving in the U.S senate. Especially a minority leader.
