People in Baltimore are shocked to learn that among five youths arrested in a stolen car they allegedly carjacked was a 9-year-old kid. Sadly, we’re not quite so surprised since we’ve covered children as young as 8 carjacking drivers at gunpoint. It’s a fairly common occurrence in many big American cities now, but it should become a rarity again.
Cops caught the five suspects in a stolen car on the same street where a violent armed carjacking, also pulled off by kids, happened just days before. The suspects in the stolen vehicle were 21, 19, 16, 15, and 9. According to local news station WBFF, only the 9-year-old was released to his parents.
Those suspects weren’t just sitting in a stolen car. According to Baltimore Police, the owner was carjacked while stopped at an intersection. The suspects approached her car, smashed the window with some sort of metal tool, then dragged her out before taking off with her ride.
Residents of that neighborhood interviewed by WBFF indicated that sort of thing happens fairly often, and they’re fed up with the violence. One of them was even injured recently.
After the carjacking, the suspects allegedly assaulted someone else and attempted an unarmed robbery.
WBFF said people in the neighborhood complain it’s the same group of kids who are breaking into cars to steal stuff, carjacking people, robbing victims, and committing other crimes. One man went so far as to say the kids should be locked up permanently.
At this point nobody reasonable could claim there isn’t a problem when kids are carjacking people, sometimes at gunpoint. The problem is not everyone agrees about what to do with the children when they’re caught. Do you keep them incarcerated for a long time? Prosecute the parents? Put them in therapy? What’s the solution to kids committing adult crimes?

Definitely hold the parents accountable for their children/child. Everything starts at home with the proper learning environment. Raise them up to obey what you say, to honor and respect others and most importantly raise them to honor and worship God/Jesus. When they know that God is watching everything it might make a difference. At the same time, make sure they know how much they are loved by family and friends–love goes a long way toward healing.
PROCECUTE THE PARENTS!!!
THese kids should be held accountable. 9 years old may seem young but still needs to be held accountable. These liberal AJs, prosecutors do not help the situation.
Parents care nothing for their kids. Where were they in their education? they let them run wild and ten cry when they are caught and sent to prison. I think longer sentences are needed.
