No one is above the law. When I first saw videos of Democrat U.S. Senator Alex Padilla being taken down and cuffed by federal agents at the live televised DHS press conference led by Secretary Kristi Noem, I thought it appeared excessive.
He was a U.S. Senator after all, said the news. Though I didn’t recognize him.
And that’s how it was reported — a U.S. Senator of the opposing party roughly taken down by Trump thugs just for trying to ask the Homeland Security secretary a question.
And the left is having a field day falsely hyping it and spinning it that way.
But once I saw the entire set of videos and understood the context of the incident, it was a very different story. As a protection professional, it was clear to me that federal agents were right to take down Padilla and his clown show.
I would have done exactly the same thing.
Padilla, while he may have been known to some, including two of the federal agents there, wasn’t (at least not until his outrageous performance) a widely or well-known politician.
He was also not invited to the press briefing and wasn’t wearing the lapel pin identifying himself as a member of congress, nor any pin showing that he was cleared to be there.
He simply showed up and thrust himself into the briefing while Noem was speaking live on TV.
Padilla says he was escorted in by two of the agents who took him down, but whether that is true or not, he was allowed in as a courtesy, not an invitee. It was also irrelevant once he started angrily interrupting Secretary Noem, pushing and shoving himself closer to the podium as he did so.
He was being disrespectful, disruptive and offensive. He was also becoming a threat. From a close protection officer’s position, no one can be allowed to lunge forward yelling at their protectee. No one.
And especially not when your protectee is the cabinet secretary in charge of the largest security agency in the country. And a high-risk target.
Videos clearly show agents tried to hold Padilla back to keep him from lunging forward. Padilla kept trying to force his way through to apparently reach Noem. At this point, as far as I’m concerned, and protection protocol dictates, he was absolutely becoming a threat and assaulting the agents.
Yelling out, “I’m Senator Alex Padilla,” while wrestling with agents doesn’t change anything, except that as a Senator you are making it obvious you should know better. You could also be lying.
Or worse yet, you could be having a breakdown and be enraged. Padilla waited 12 full seconds before claiming he was a senator, while still trying to force his way through.
Being a senator also doesn’t give you special privileges to assault law enforcement to force your way to a cabinet secretary during an official event.
How many times have angry politicians physically assaulted other politicians? Well, enough times to make it a concern.
Not long ago, a sheriff shot and killed a judge — possibly corrupt — inside his chambers. More recently, an evangelical missionary and aspiring security company owner murdered a state politician and their spouse, and critically wounded another lawmaker and their wife.
Violent riots against Secretary Noem’s raids on illegal aliens are still going on in Los Angeles.
We are living in volatile and dangerous times.
Even as Padilla was being pushed back out of the briefing room, where again, he was not invited, and was now disrupting and potentially endangering the secretary and others on stage, he continued to resist and fight with the agents.
This is unacceptable and endangers everyone from the agents to the person struggling against them, as well as everyone else in the room.
At that point, the agents had no choice but to take him to the ground in the space outside to subdue him by cuffing him per standard protocol.
Per Padilla’s own admission, he was never formally detained or arrested. He was simply subdued for everyone’s safety until he calmed down.
Interestingly, also per Padilla himself, the person of authority in the room who asked the agents to let him go was Corey Lewandowski, President Trump’s 2016 campaign manager and an intimate friend of Secretary Noem.
Bottom line: This was in no way a political takedown of a sincere opposition politician by overzealous Trump goons. It was a justified takedown of a rude, loud, physically aggressive and potentially dangerous man by professional protection agents covering one the highest risk security targets in America, after Trump.
He just happened to be a Democrat Senator.
He is either incredibly stupid or was too enraged to know what he was doing. Or, as many speculate, the little-known politician deliberately created the entire circus to bash Trump, further the Democrat narrative, and to gain notoriety.
Either way, he got what he deserved, and maybe what he wanted.

Typical Democrat. He’s above the law in his own mind.
This senator is a clown. He should have had identification showing his clearance to be there. He assumed he was OK and HE was after all a senator. Who wouldn’t know him of course. Afterall, I’m a senator. He was not recognized and showed no authorization, so take down was appropriate if he did not comply. It appears he did not comply. So, he should be stopped. Especially, in today’s climate of unrest, outbursts, interference, assassination attempts, crazy behavior created mostly by the left.
