Tiffany Henyard — once dubbed the “worst mayor in America” by critics — is attempting a political comeback hundreds of miles from the Chicago suburb where her tenure collapsed in scandal.
The former Democratic mayor of Dolton, Illinois has resurfaced in Georgia as a Republican candidate for South Fulton County Commission’s District 5 seat. According to election records, Henyard is the lone GOP candidate and will face four Democrats.
Henyard first drew national attention in 2024 when FBI subpoenas were served on officials in her administration as part of a corruption investigation. She was never charged.
But the controversies surrounding her time in office were plentiful.
A financial probe found Dolton’s bank balance had plummeted from $5.6 million to a $3.6 million deficit. During her tenure, the village also failed to file required financial reports and audits with the Illinois comptroller.
Residents accused Henyard of treating taxpayer funds like a personal expense account — allegedly billing the village thousands for a hair and makeup team and taking a lavish Las Vegas trip.
The Vegas trip later became the subject of additional controversy after allegations surfaced that one of Henyard’s allies sexually assaulted a woman during the trip. The alleged victim said she was fired after speaking out.
Henyard lost her re-election bid and soon faced additional legal troubles. A landlord sued her and a former boyfriend for failing to pay rent on a home she occupied while mayor. A court later ordered her to pay $10,000.
In 2025, she was also ordered to appear in court for failing to turn over public records from her time in office.
Before leaving Illinois politics entirely, Henyard also lost her position as supervisor of Thornton Township to state Sen. Napoleon Harris.
But her time in office ended about as chaotically as it unfolded.
In January 2025, Henyard was captured on video jumping into a physical brawl during a heated Thornton Township Board of Trustees meeting after a critic insulted her during public comments. (RELATED: Corrupt Mayor Hit With Federal Lawsuit Over Violent Brawl)
The confrontation erupted after activist Jedidiah Brown blasted the self-described “super mayor.”
“You’ve been a half-a– mayor. But if you wanted to get up here and earn some respect, then you should have been able to respond to Lori Lightfoot’s report about credit cards. You want to talk about them not coming to work, but we’ve been hearing what you’ve been doing while you’ve been at work,” Brown said.
“And I’m going to give away the rest of my time because I think, on behalf of the Black Cookout Association, that we better take a vote … that we’re going to exchange your Black a– for Stephanie to be the newer member.… So all those against it say ‘nay,’ all those in favor say, ‘aye.’”
“You gone, b—-,” Brown concluded.
Moments later, Henyard’s boyfriend, Kamal Woods, allegedly attacked Brown. Both Woods and Henyard were later named in lawsuits filed by Brown and Lavell Redmond, who claim the brawl amounted to “retaliation for exercising” their rights to free speech, expression and association.

Now, Henyard is attempting to restart her political career — this time in Georgia, and this time as a Republican.

John Kennedy here. The last fundraising deadline passed — and we came up short. Now the woke crowd is celebrating, saying “Kennedy’s finished.” Let’s prove them wrong. Chip in $25, $50, or whatever you can to close the gap and keep fighting.

Here hoping Georgia will be made aware of her lawless history.
Birds of a feather flock together. Fulton County, GA. has allegedly been also involved in corruption and scandal. Perhaps she wants to continue her career. She will probably win if thy can stuff the ballot box.
