Democrat Frontrunner Leading Us Down the Road to Serfdom

-

It's an iron law of : Candidates will say and do incredibly dumb things. Not all of these gaffes are fatal to a candidate's chances of winning – sometimes, the other candidate says and does even dumber things.  But these missteps can give us a sense of what candidates really think.

Consider an op-ed from Senate candidate (D). Mr. Fetterman makes no bones that he's running as a Democratic populist. Fair enough. But what does such a candidate propose to do if elected to a seat in the U.S. Senate?

Mr. Fetterman would sic on oil company executives, for one. And meat processors for another:

Chevron, Exxon, and Shell have seen their profits increase 200% since last year, but they're still charging us sky-high prices for gas. Companies like Tyson posted over a billion dollars in profits last quarter, while raising prices on meat products our families depend on.

It's gross, and deeply unpatriotic, for the big corporations to be rolling around in cash while charging us record high prices for gas and groceries.

We'll crack down on this by prosecuting the executives of these huge corporations, including the big oil companies and meatpacking companies who are artificially driving up prices, gouging consumers at the pump and at the grocery store.

This is absolutely a populist's rhetoric – the “big boys” and “fat cats” are always out to screw the little guy. Who can stop them? The state, of course, whose leading lights wouldn't know market forces from a hole in the ground.

Fetterman's economic illiteracy wouldn't be harmful were he not seeking high elected office…where he could do real damage.

Worse, there are already plenty of pols from both major parties already in power who want to do what Fetterman only proposes. They preach that opportunity, equality, equity or even freedom will result from their crusades against capitalism. Bigger lies have been told. But few would impoverish more, and more quickly, than those of Fetterman's ilk.

  1. “We’ll crack down on this by prosecuting the executives of these huge corporations, including the big oil companies and meatpacking companies who are artificially driving up prices, gouging consumers at the pump and at the grocery store.” The author missed the opportunity to call this kind of thinking what it is. If the government expects private ownership of companies and then pulls stunts like this, it would be one of the tenants of fascism. This is of course the direction Biden is also headed by dictating thru regulations and government policies what businesses can do. Rewarding those like the media giants for spreading his propaganda, and penalizing those in the energy industry by strangling their investment money and drying up oil leases. So while Biden says, Making America Great Again, or simply being patriotic is fascist. This is the result of his own fascist policies for the country. Once again a double standard as a propaganda tool. Why so many democrats, “want” to be fooled by Biden’s Marxist utopia, is unexplainable.
