With polling showing Democrats are hoping someone can take President Joe Biden off their hands, a big name is ready to announce her campaign for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination.
Marianne Williamson, a 2020 presidential candidate and “spiritual guru” who became a celebrity known for her bizarre demeanor, has announced she will make an “important announcement” at a March 4 press conference in Washington, D.C.
“As America gears up for the 2024 presidential election, I'm preparing an important announcement on March 4th in Washington DC,” Williamson said in a press release.
“I am motivated by: a commitment to the tenets of liberty espoused in the Declaration of Independence and the Gettysburg Address; a realization of the Democratic Party's shift away from the party of President Franklin Roosevelt; and the economic injustices endured by millions of Americans due to the influence of corporate money on our political system,” Williamson said.
In an interview with Politico, Williamson teased a run, saying Biden is an example of the “disconnect between the analysis of party elites versus the struggle of everyday Americans.”
Williamson, lampooned as a New Age faith healer who embraces crystals and meditation over modern medicine, tackled her public image head-on.
“I'm certainly not anti-science. I'm not anti-vax. I'm not the crystal lady. I didn't tell people they got sick because they didn't pray enough. Basically, I'm not stupid,” said Williamson.
Williamson's 2020 campaign attracted widespread attention, which did not translate into votes.
After her first nationally-televised debate, the Los Angeles Times wrote Democrats were “confused” and “transfixed” by Williamson for, among other things, promising that first act as president would be to tell then-New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, “Girlfriend, you are so on.”
In another debate, Williamson claimed Donald Trump was powered by a “dark psychic force of the collectivized hatred.”
The Hollywood Reporter noted that although she received little speaking time compared to other candidates, her odd and dramatic style made her the most Googled of any candidate in 49 of 50 states.
Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., the son of the former U.S. attorney general and a critic of the COVID-19 vaccine, is reportedly also considering a campaign.

Williamson is white. The Democrats will vote for the next president based on skin color, sexual identity, and sexual orientation. Any Democrat who runs for the presidency as a black, gay, transgender will win, even if they know nothing about politics.
