ANALYSIS – The most extreme left-wing idea being pushed today is life-altering child m*tilation procedures to ‘affirm’ a child’s so-called ‘g*nder identity’ by ‘tr*nsitioning’ to the opposite s*x.
These irreversible procedures are bad enough when conducted on consenting adults, some of whom later regret their decision and try to ‘detr*nsition.’
Some studies show that self-identified tr*nsgender people, already being far more likely to suffer from mental illness, are potentially more likely to commit s*icide after transitioning.
Yet, highly politicized medical experts continue to push this radical agenda, even on children. And in doing so they are ignoring the science and providing zero evidence to support their cause.
GOP members of Congress are striving to ensure that no American tax dollars are used to fund any of these procedures on kids, including p*berty blockers, cross-s*x hormones, or surgeries.
Congressman Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) is one of them. Crenshaw called the issue of child gender tr*nsition medicine “the issue of our time.”
“This is the hill we are going to die on. It is too important,” Crenshaw said, according to the Washington Examiner.
Crenshaw is introducing legislation to ban taxpayer funding going to children’s hospitals that offer so-called “gender aff*rming care” to minors.
In a June 9 press statement, Crenshaw said: “From now on, we will not allow a dime of this taxpayer-funded program to go toward children’s hospitals that cater to the harmful pseudoscience that is ‘gender-aff*rming care.'”
He also had an opportunity to highlight the issue when the House Subcommittee on Health recently discussed the reauthorization of a program that sends taxpayer money to children’s hospitals.

The Children’s Hospital Graduate Medical Education Payment Program, contingent on legislation that comes up for reauthorization every five years, doled out roughly $356 million to 59 hospitals nationwide last year.
Crenshaw seeks to ensure that the program does not ultimately direct taxpayer money to children’s hospitals that m*tilate kids, stating, “This is taxpayer money, and when 70% of taxpayers opposed these barbaric treatments on minors, then taxpayers should not fund it.”He has proposed an amendment to that effect, conditioning reauthorization on the prohibition of funds going toward children’s hospitals that, at any point during the preceding fiscal year “furnished gender-aff*rming care … to an individual under 18 years of age.”
During the hearing, the congressman pressed expert witnesses Wednesday about the scientific justification for s*x-change m*tilations of children. And no surprise, beyond boilerplate talking points, they couldn’t provide any.
One exchange was especially telling.
When Crenshaw questioned Dr. Meredithe McNamara, an assistant professor of pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine about her evidence supporting gender tr*nsition medicine for minors, McNamara could only cite what she called accepted “standards of care.”
The Washington Examiner noted that:
Crenshaw responded by citing the British Medical Journal, the Journal of the Endocrine Society, and the American Academy of Pediatrics in saying there is a lack of concrete data supporting the medical tr*nsition of minors. When McNamara continued to cite only convention, Crenshaw pressed further.
“‘The standards of care.’ That’s not a journal. That’s not a study. That’s not an organization. It’s not an institution. You’re just saying words. Name one study,” Crenshaw chided.
Meanwhile, child and adult psychologist Miriam Grossman, said it was clear what was happening. The lack of data and scientific debate on tr*nsgender medicine is due to how far medical journals and associations have become politicized.
“Medicine is unfortunately permeated with politics at this point,” she said.
Sadly, it’s not about ‘the science.’ It’s only about ‘the politics.’ And the left is working hard to ensure that both ‘the science’ and ‘the politics’ become the same thing.

What happen to the procedure of having psychiatric help for 5+years, living as the sex you think you should be for 5 years or more, going through a gradual transition before becoming the sex you think you are supposed to be? What happen to all the safe guards that were in place to prevent misdiagnosis?
Also, what happen to parent consent for anyone under the age of 18 before a doctor could even speak to a child? Why isn’t a parent involved in this?
