Israel Says No To Biden Pressure For ‘Humanitarian Pause’ In Gaza

-

ANALYSIS – As and the Democrats come under increasing pressure, both from their leftist pro- base, and internationally, they are steadily backtracking on their initial pro- stance.

I wrote about earlier the White House launched a ‘Strategy to Counter Islamophobia' just as anti-Jewish sentiment and threats are spiking.

That was tone deaf enough. But part two of the Biden retreat on Israel involves pressuring the embattled Jewish state to ‘pause' combat to allow humanitarian aid to flow into , just as they are encircling Gaza City.

This, as opposed to demanding a ‘ceasefire' which is still, rightfully a dirty word at the White House. To that end Biden dispatched Secretary of State to Israel to cajole our staunch Middle East ally into taking a ‘time out.'

Of course, this is something we would never consider in our war against terror in Iraq or Afghanistan.

And, as retired Army General , once director of the CIA, explained on CBS News, as horrific as 9/11 was, the Hamas attack in Israel killed a far greater proportion of its much smaller population.

“This is the equivalent of the U.S. having experienced over 40,000 losses, rather than the 3,000 terrible losses that we sustained in the attacks of 9/11,” said Petraeus. So, it's an absurd request.

But Team Biden wants to ensure they say the right things ‘on the record' to appease their leftist base, so they can defend themselves as they campaign in 2024.

This overtly political calculation was highlighted in the comments given to NBC News:

“If this really goes bad, we want to be able to point to our past statements,” a senior U.S. official said. The official said the administration is particularly worried about a narrative taking hold that Biden supports all Israeli military actions and that U.S.-provided weapons have been used to kill Palestinian civilians, many of them women and children.

Thankfully, Israel is standing strong in the face of the Biden pressure.

Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Friday as Blinken visited, that Israel will not consider a “humanitarian pause” as long as over 240 hostages remain in Hamas' custody.

Disregarding the top Biden diplomat's call, the prime minister added his nation will continue attacking Hamas in the Gaza Strip with “all of its power” and was “going with full steam ahead,” unless hostages are released.

U.S. officials have tried to clarify that they are not asking for a cease-fire but short pauses in specific areas to allow aid deliveries and evacuations. Netanyahu has not publicly addressed the idea and has instead repeatedly ruled out a cease-fire.

Blinken responded diplomatically to the Israeli statements, saying:

A number of legitimate questions were raised by Israel including how to connect the pause to the release of hostages and how to make sure Hamas doesn't use these pauses to its own advantage. These are issues we need to tackle urgently and we believe it can be solved.

Meanwhile, as Blinken and the rest of Team Biden tackle these complex issues, Israel will press forward to choke off Hamas in Gaza and destroy its underground terror tunnel network.

Sadly, there have been, and will continue to be massive civilian casualties, especially since Hamas has built its tunnels beneath the densely populated city and has also blocked its fellow Gazan civilians from evacuating, as Israel urged them to do.

Hamas is solely to blame for the horror that occurred on October 7 in Israel and in Gaza since.
