Minnesota Protests Turn Chaotic As Anti-ICE Movement Grows

Will this be the spark? In the frigid, snowy streets of deep-blue Minneapolis, we are seeing the product of the insurrection led by Democratic leaders hell-bent on turning lawful federal operations into a powder keg of civil conflict.

When an ICE officer fatally shot anti-ICE “ICE-Watch” activist Renee Good as she barreled through an officer with her SUV trying to flee arrest during a chaotic confrontation amid immigration enforcement efforts, Minnesota’s Democrats didn’t call for calm or investigation.

Instead, they fanned the flames, effectively declaring war on the federal government and risking a breakdown in the rule of law that could spiral into something far worse: greater civil strife, something I’ve been warning about for some time.

Let’s be clear, ICE’s presence in Minneapolis is not an “occupation,” as Gov. Tim Walz, who oversaw billions in Somali fraud and failed governance, has absurdly claimed.

It’s a necessary federal response to the Biden-Harris era’s horrible open-border policies that flooded America’s communities with millions of illegal aliens from all over the third world, and blue state sanctuary policies that protect them, straining resources, endangering citizens, and dramatically altering American life and culture.

Under President Trump, ICE is finally doing its job — closing the border, deporting criminal illegals, and restoring order. But Walz, always the radical left-wing enabler, has the Minnesota National Guard on standby to apparently be used despite the president’s wishes.

This is the textbook definition of escalation — a governor signaling open resistance to federal immigration enforcement.

The War Department, meanwhile, placed 1,500 active-duty airborne troops on stand-by in case they are needed, and Trump justifiably invokes the Insurrection Act.

All this is reminiscent of George Wallace mobilizing the Alabama Guard in 1963 to oppose federal law enforcement efforts to enforce federal law racially integrating state schools.

That didn’t end well for Wallace, as President John F. Kennedy federalized the Guard right out from under him. Trump should do the same to Walz.

Democratic actions and rhetoric disguised as standing up to Trump are a recipe for violence. After the destruction Minnesota saw in the self-inflicted 2020 BLM riots, the last thing the state needs is leaders pouring gasoline on the fire.

Left-wing Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey piled on, demanding ICE “leave our state immediately,” adding they need to “get the f*** out” of the city, all while gaslighting federal agents for sowing “chaos and distrust.”

Frey’s blueprint for defiance — hailed by CNN as a Democrat model — that includes obstructing federal operations, has correctly landed him and Walz under a Justice Department investigation for impeding ICE.

Left-wing radicals, emboldened by their rhetoric, have looted federal vehicles, doxxed agents, and assaulted officers with impunity.

Tens of thousands of brainwashed leftists who hate Trump, view borders as evil, and see obeying federal laws they don’t like as optional, have taken to the streets, clashing with law enforcement in scenes reminiscent of Portland’s violent anarchy.

But none of this is about one tragic death: it’s about a pattern of Democratic sabotage of federal authority. Across blue states, lawmakers are rushing bills to handcuff ICE, shielding illegal aliens at the expense of American safety. 

In Minnesota, Democrats who have incessantly and falsely decried the four-hour-long Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot as an “insurrection” now cheer on a real and far more extreme form of defiance — interfering with, impeding, and attacking federal officers performing their lawful federal duties, inciting angry mobs, and eroding the Constitution’s supremacy clause.

If states can defy federal immigration laws, what’s next? Nullifying gun rights or tax codes? Minnesota is flirting with a dangerous precedent. President Trump must invoke the Insurrection Act, as I have urged, and legal experts argue, to quell the unrest and reaffirm constitutional federal authority.

It wasn’t authoritarian when JFK did it in ’63, and it wouldn’t be now if Trump did it today.

Unlike a short-lived afternoon riot in D.C. five years ago, Democrats’ words and actions today in Minnesota, and elsewhere across the country, could lead to further clashes unless cooler heads prevail.

Renee Good’s death is heartbreaking, but exploiting it to undermine ICE dishonors her and endangers us all. It’s time for accountability: Investigate the anti-ICE agitators, and deploy the federalized Guard and active troops, if needed.

America needs to remind these radical blue states that America is one nation, not a confederacy of illegal alien sanctuaries.
