In a day when CRT (critical race theory) and SEL (social emotional learning) are running rampant in K-12 curricula, teaching children about America's founding is more important than ever.
The Little Patriots Program — a project of former HUD secretary Ben Carson's American Cornerstone Institute — seeks to fill the gap that has been created by the woke leftist educational agenda that is taking over America's school system from coast to coast.
The mission of the program is as follows, per ACI's website:
“The racial divide and government overreach are impacting our public schools. Children are being labeled as “victims” and “oppressors.” Curriculum changes are being considered to “modernize” our founding documents. This is incredibly dangerous to the future of our country because the longer this radical ideology is pushed, the further our nation will slide toward socialism and away from our founding principles.
We must not allow that to happen. That's why the American Cornerstone Institute created the Little Patriots platform. Now, parents, grandparents, teachers, and caregivers have a free, online resource to use to teach children civics lessons, history, and American values at home, in the car, or after school.”
The resources on the site include materials for children to read and watch.
An expertly produced video series called “Star Spangled Adventures” — which can be watched for free from the site — has so far covered topics such as “Christopher Columbus,” “The Pilgrims and the First Thanksgiving” and “The Boston Tea Party.”
The Institute's two recently published books are “Red, White, and Blue: Our Flag Matters to Me and You” and “Why America Matters,” both suggested for children between the ages of four to eight are available for a small donation to the institute.
“America Monthly Workbooks” are available to be downloaded free of charge from the site and cover topics such as “Women's History Month,” “Memorial Day” and “The Constitution.” Per the site, the workbooks all “highlight our country's cornerstone values: Faith, Liberty, Community, and Life.”
Although the online resources are free to use, they are not free to create. If you want to be a part of teaching the next generation all about American exceptionalism pushing back against CRT curriculums that are being engrained into every subject taught in schools today, be sure to support the American Cornerstone Institute and the Little Patriots Learning Program.
