This endorsement is the next in my series of recommendations to Howard Lutnick, Donald J. Trump Jr., and the Trump transition team. Previously, I put forward Ken Paxton for attorney general—now, I turn my attention to Scott Jennings as the ideal choice for White House press secretary.

If there’s one person whose experience, articulation and media savvy could transform the daily White House press briefings into impactful conversations that effectively champion Donald Trump’s agenda, it would be Scott Jennings. Jennings has consistently demonstrated on CNN that he can articulate Trump’s vision for America as effectively as Vice President-elect J.D. Vance or Vivek Ramaswamy—if not more so. For that reason, among many others, Jennings stands out as an exceptional choice for the role of White House Press Secretary.

Scott Jennings grew up in Dawson Springs, Kentucky, and studied at the University of Louisville, where he graduated as a McConnell Scholar in 2000. Jennings has been a senior political commentator on CNN since 2017, where he’s regularly sparred with opposing viewpoints while always standing his ground. Jennings brings reality crashing down on CNN’s often left-leaning narratives. He doesn’t shy away from challenging his colleagues on issues where he believes the media has lost touch with regular Americans.

Consider his powerful commentary on Trump’s 2024 election victory. Jennings described the win as “revenge of the regular, anonymous American” who had been dismissed by elites. Jennings captured something fundamental that others on the panel couldn’t: that people across the country were tired of being insulted, ignored and made to feel like second-class citizens for their beliefs. Jennings spoke up not just for Trump, but for everyday Americans—people “who get up and go to work every day, and try to make a better life for their kids.”

Such clarity and insight are exactly what the White House press corps needs to hear day after day. Jennings would be more than just a spokesperson; he would be the advocate for the forgotten, the silenced and the Americans whom the mainstream media often misrepresents or neglects.

Jennings’ preelection eulogy on CNN, where he defended P’Nut the Rescue Squirrel against “absurd government overreach,” was not only humorous but also highlighted the absurdities of unchecked bureaucracy. This mix of levity and pointed critique is precisely the kind of communication Trump values—humor used not just for laughs, but as a tool for cutting through the noise and delivering a memorable, persuasive message.
