Woke Corporations Caught Pushing Women to Get Abortions to Avoid Paying Family Leave

-

Ahead of potential congressional hearings next year, a House Republican leader is asking four major “progressive” corporations to explain why they are seemingly pressing female employees to get abortions to avoid paying federally-mandated family leave.

Congressman (R-Texas), Ranking Member on the House Oversight Committee's Economic and Consumer Policy Subcommittee sent a letter to the Walt Company, Warner Bros. Discovery Inc., Alphabet Inc. and Meta regarding reported concerns they are offering to pay for employees' abortions to avoid the higher costs of -mandated paid family leave after the Supreme Court overturned its 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling, in its Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization.

“On June 24, 2022, the day the Dobbs decision was released, your company wrote in a memo to employees ‘we have processes in place so that an employee who may be unable to access care in one location has affordable coverage for receiving similar levels of care in another location. This travel benefit covers medical situations related to cancer treatments, transplants, rare disease treatment and family planning (including pregnancy-related decisions),” wrote Cloud in his letter to Disney.

That day Warner Bros. Discovery informed employees they had “immediately expanded … [its] healthcare benefits options to cover transportation expenses for employees and their covered family members who need to travel to access and reproductive care.”

Google's Chief People Officer issued a statement that day to employees stating Google's “US benefits plan and health insurance covers out-of-state medical procedures that are not available where an employee lives and works,” and that employees “can apply for relocation without justification.”

A Meta spokesperson issued a June 24 statement declaring the corporation “intend[s] to offer travel expense reimbursements…for employees who will need them to access out-of-state and reproductive services.”

“There was no reminder about the paid family leave policies in place or emphasis that the company supported women who choose to carry their pregnancies to term and raise their children,” Cloud noted to each of the four.

Pushing employees to abort children would save the corporations estimated millions of dollars in long-term child care costs mandated by federal law.

“Women have historically faced discrimination for being pregnant due to the number of days women will be absent from the workforce due to the birth and care of their children. The Pregnancy Discrimination Act forbids discrimination based on pregnancy related to any aspect of employment, including hiring, firing, pay, job assignments, promotions, layoffs, training, and benefits. Though illegal, there are many ways in which companies discourage women from carrying pregnancies to term, such as discouraging taking additional time off, making it impossible to get their shifts covered, or taking women off more prominent projects,” wrote Cloud in the letter.

“During this time of historically high 9.1 percent inflation, skyrocketing gas prices, and baby formula shortages, it is imperative that women feel they are supported in their decision to balance their family with their work,” continued Cloud. “They should not feel coerced into seeking an abortion instead of taking time off to have their child.”

The letter had asked for a briefing by Aug. 24.

  1. Woke companies will pay dearly for the death of the unborn. Greed and unmoral trash. Any woman aborting their children will rot in hell. You use abortion for birth control. A bunch of unclean unmoral women who think murder is ok for babies but not for a animal. Your thinking is so screwed up. You pushed the vaccines on people but you said my body my choice. Your so disgusting and liars. Your stupidity is sickening. A old white man in the White House and a Muslim telling him to tell you murder is fine.

  2. Someone doesn’t have a clue! Women don’t have abortions to save their companies money. They have abortions because they don’t want to accept the risks of pregnancy and childbirth. But, hey, I have an idea! Why doesn’t the government step up and give pregnant women who it insists must remain pregnant the same pay and benefits it gives military service-members? Call it the US Pregnany Force! Wouldn’t that help build the “culure of life” that antiabortion folks have been crowing about for decades but have never lifted a finger to try to create?

    • Most have abortions for birth control and convenience. If you don’t want the risks of pregnancy and childbirth get sterilized. Don’t murder an innocent child. PP is only about money and selling baby parts/

  3. My Father who fought in what is now North Korea and was exposed to the mentality of the Far East, warned uis at the dinner table that in East Asia individual human life has no value and no meaning. Are we becoming Chink-i-fied?

  4. Gonna play devil’s advocate here, but it seems the author is jumping to conclusions. There’s nothing in the wording that states “we don’t want to pay for family leave”. Agree with it or not, they’re expanding medical coverage. The person w/ the insurance is not obligated to use this particular coverage.
