2 Men Charged In Super Bowl Parade Shooting

-

Authorities have charged two men in connection to the deadly shooting at last week's Super Bowl parade in , Missouri.

Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced Tuesday afternoon that Dominic M. Miller of Kansas City and Lyndell Mays of Raytown, Missouri, have been charged with murder in the shooting that killed one person and injured at least 22 more.

The New York Times reports:

Both of the men facing murder charges were wounded by gunfire and remain hospitalized. Prosecutors said more arrests were possible.

The shooting unfolded at the end of a parade that drew tens of thousands of jubilant Kansas City Chiefs fans to the downtown area.

As the rally concluded, gunshots were heard near Union Station, and hundreds of people — including families with small children — fled the scene in panic.

Two days after the shooting, two teenagers were charged with resisting arrest and “gun-related” offenses. The teenagers have not been publicly identified and could eventually be tried as adults after a judicial process that can take days or weeks to decide how they should be tried.

Local radio host Elizabeth Galvan was killed in the shooting. She is survived by her husband and two children.
