On Friday, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced the successful capture of a wanted fugitive and onetime Olympian who the FBI has described as an “extremely violent criminal believed to be responsible for the murder of numerous people abroad.”
Ryan Wedding, 44, was arrested in Mexico and flown to the United States, where he will “face justice,” Bondi said in a post on X. Sources said FBI Director Kash Patel accompanied Wedding on the flight back to the U.S.
“At my direction, Department of Justice agents @FBI have apprehended yet another member of the FBI’s Top Ten Most Wanted List: Ryan Wedding, the onetime Olympian snowboarder-turned alleged violent cocaine kingpin,” Bondi wrote.

“This is a direct result of President Trump’s law-and-order leadership. Under @POTUS, criminals have no safe harbor. Director Patel has worked tirelessly to bring fugitives to justice. We are grateful to our incredible Ambassador Ron Johnson and the Mexican authorities for assisting us in this case,” she added.
Patel also confirmed the arrest in a separate post, calling it a major milestone during his leadership at the bureau.
“Wedding was the first fugitive added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list during his tenure and, ‘Now, less than a year later, he is in custody,’” Patel wrote.

“Wedding is believed to have been hiding in Mexico for over a decade — and has been wanted on charges for cocaine trafficking and murder since 2024,” he said.
Patel added that Wedding’s capture marks another recent success for federal investigators.
“This is the SIXTH Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitive this FBI has captured within a year — fugitives who had been on the run for almost 40 years combined. That’s no accident. President Trump is letting good cops be cops and the results speak for themselves,” he wrote.
Wedding was added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted list in March 2025. The FBI has described him as an “extremely violent criminal believed to be responsible for the murder of numerous people abroad.”
According to the FBI, Wedding is accused of running a transnational drug trafficking network that “routinely shipped hundreds of kilograms of cocaine from Colombia, through Mexico and Southern California, to Canada and other locations in the United States.”
He is also accused of orchestrating multiple murders and at least one attempted murder as part of the alleged trafficking operation.
Wedding and 14 alleged associates were charged in connection with the January 2025 killing of a witness who was shot to death at a restaurant in Colombia. According to an indictment unsealed in November, Wedding allegedly placed a bounty on the victim, believing the witness’s death would lead to the dismissal of charges against him and the drug trafficking organization prosecutors say he led.
Last month, FBI officials said Mexican authorities seized about $40 million worth of motorcycles believed to be owned by Wedding. The seizure followed additional charges filed against him and an increase in the reward for information leading to his capture to $15 million.
Wedding competed for Canada in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, after missing the 1998 Games.
