Authorities in New Hampshire have arrested a man accused of making violent threats against Republican Governor Kelly Ayotte.
Tristan Alexander Anderson, of Merrimack County, was taken into custody on Aug. 28 after police received a report that he had issued threats against Ayotte via Snapchat. According to a probable cause statement, Anderson’s own roommate provided the threatening messages to her ex-boyfriend, who then contacted law enforcement.
In one of the alarming messages, Anderson wrote, “I’m going to target the NH Mayor Kelly ayott. With my weapon of mass destruction.”
Authorities said Anderson continued his tirade with antisemitic and conspiratorial remarks, referencing the “Israel Deep State” and claiming he was “going insane.”
Another message reportedly stated, “These Jew feds need to f—— die.”
Court documents obtained by Fox News reveal Anderson’s roommate told New Hampshire State Police that he not only made violent threats but also had access to firearms and bombmaking materials — including metal pipes, nuts, and bolts. The roommate provided screenshots of the messages and said Anderson had talked about making pipe bombs, raising fears he could carry out an attack.
Police moved swiftly, arresting Anderson later that day on a felony warrant.
Prosecutors allege Anderson knowingly threatened to harm or kill Ayotte as retaliation for her public service. He now faces charges of criminal threatening and harm or threats to certain government officials.
He is being held without bail as he awaits his next court date — a dispositional conference scheduled for Nov. 20.
Former criminal prosecutor Jesse O’Neill told WMUR 9 that as the case progresses, prosecutors may pursue even more serious charges during the indictment phase.
“I think it’s going to be important to watch as additional information about this case comes to light,” O’Neill said.
