Law enforcement officials in California say they have recovered millions of dollars’ worth of stolen goods — including nicotine products tied to a company co-founded by Tucker Carlson — as part of a broader investigation into organized cargo theft.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department announced that detectives executed a search warrant and seized approximately $4 million in stolen merchandise. The operation also resulted in the arrest of at least one suspect, according to a May 1 statement shared on social media.
Stolen Shipment Recovered
Among the recovered items were products from multiple companies, including nicotine pouches sold under the ALP brand. The company had previously reported that a large shipment of its ALP Drifter nicotine pouches was stolen in March while en route to Kentucky.
At the time, ALP said more than 387,000 tins were taken shortly before the product’s planned launch, prompting the company to publicly ask for information and offer a reward for tips.
ALP indicated that its stolen inventory had been recovered, describing the case as evolving from a single cargo theft into a larger criminal investigation.
Broader Cargo Theft Operation
Authorities said the seizure involved goods linked to at least eight different companies, suggesting the theft was part of a wider organized effort rather than an isolated incident. Cargo theft has been a growing concern across the United States, with criminal groups increasingly targeting high-value shipments in transit.
While officials have not publicly confirmed that all recovered ALP products were directly tied to the earlier reported theft, the overlap in timing and product type suggests a likely connection under investigation.
Ongoing Investigation
The sheriff’s department has not released additional details about the suspect or whether more arrests are expected. Investigators are continuing to examine the scope of the operation, including how the stolen goods were transported and distributed.
Company Response
ALP acknowledged the recovery in a statement on social media, emphasizing that the incident had drawn unexpected attention to the brand. The company also reiterated a message discouraging theft and encouraging consumers to purchase products through legitimate channels.
Rising Trend
The case highlights a broader rise in cargo theft incidents nationwide, often involving organized networks targeting shipments of consumer goods. Law enforcement agencies have increasingly coordinated efforts to track and recover stolen merchandise, particularly in major hubs like Southern California.
As the investigation continues, officials say the seizure represents a significant disruption to what appears to be a larger theft operation.
