Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is urging a Georgia appeals court to reinstate six criminal charges against former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants in her 2020 election interference case. The charges were previously dismissed by a lower court judge earlier this year.
In a brief filed with the Georgia Court of Appeals, Willis challenged the decision of Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee, who tossed the charges in March. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution was the first to report Willis’ appeal on Wednesday.
McAfee had dismissed the charges, arguing that Willis failed to provide enough specific details about the alleged crimes to allow Trump and his co-defendants to adequately prepare their defenses. The judge wrote that the charges were too vague, noting that “the Defendants could have violated the Constitution and thus the statute in dozens, if not hundreds, of distinct ways.”
McAfee stated, “The lack of detail concerning an essential legal element is, in the undersigned’s opinion, fatal,” and dismissed the charges.
However, McAfee made clear at the time that his ruling did not affect the entire indictment.
In September, McAfee also dismissed two other charges against Trump related to the alleged filing of false documents in federal court. The judge ruled that these charges fell under federal jurisdiction, outside of Willis’ authority as a state prosecutor.
In her brief filed today, Willis argued that the indictment “included an abundance of context and factual allegations about the solicitations at issue, including when the requests were made, to whom they were made and the manner in which they were made.”
Despite the dismissals, Willis’ case against Trump remains active, with eight other charges still proceeding. The broader case, which targets Trump and 18 co-defendants, alleges they attempted to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia, a trial that has garnered national attention. With the 2024 presidential election mere days away, the case could have far-reaching consequences, particularly if Trump loses.

Wouldn’t it be great if Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis went after criminals like she is going after Trump … Georgia would be a much safer place!!
It’s pretty much common knowledge around these parts that Fat Fani the Hussey Willis is a genuine demoCOMMIEcrat moron – dumber than a box of rocks.
She ran in a deep blue district on a Get Trump platform. She should never have been allowed to take the case. This was a miscarriage of justice from the start.
Little Fanni is a swaggering, elitist nut-job; just WHO is she to “demand” the Appeals Courts “do her bidding, simply because “she says so”?? This twit needs to be knocked off her perch, disbarred and allowed s LOT of “thinking time” behind bars, for her flagrant abuse AND neglect of office; to say nothing of her abuse of politicians and people, in general, she doesn’t just happen to like!
To keep lawfare going
The ONLY election interference happening is from Fani, the corrupt prosecutors and DOJ!
Fanni needs to give it up. SHE lied about many things and is still dating the guy who said she stopped dating years ago. A liar is a liar is a liar. She should be removed from office.
