Matt Prokop — the former Disney Channel actor best known for High School Musical 3 and Geek Charming — has been arrested in Texas and is now facing serious criminal charges, including possession of child pornography.
Prokop, 35, was taken into custody in Victoria County on Christmas Eve and remains behind bars at the Victoria County Sheriff’s Office Jail.
Authorities say he’s facing a second-degree felony child porn charge, along with additional misdemeanor counts including evading arrest, violating a bond or protective order, and resisting arrest.
The felony charge was added on Dec. 31, 2025, after investigators executed a warrant tied to an earlier arrest stemming from alleged bond violations in a separate 2024 case.
His first court appearance has not yet been publicly scheduled.
Prokop rose to fame as a teen actor, landing guest roles on Hannah Montana and The Office before appearing in Disney productions and other film and TV work through 2013.
He also made headlines years ago after actress Sarah Hyland, his former co-star and ex-girlfriend, obtained a restraining order in 2014 and accused him of verbal and physical abuse during their relationship.
