First responders are swarming the scene of a mass shooting at a manufacturing plant in Smithsburg, Maryland.
According to reports, multiple people, including a police officer, were shot at the Columbia Machine factory. Local hospitals have dispatched medevac helicopters to the scene. The exact number of casualties — and fatalities — has not been confirmed at this time.
In a Facebook post, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office wrote “At this time the Sheriff’s Office can confirm that there are multiple victims and the suspect is no longer a threat to the community. This is a rapidly evolving incident and we will release information as we are able.”
Gov. Larry Hogan (R-Md.) spoke to reporters a short time ago.
Another video posted to Twitter purports to show police exchanging fire with the gunman. The language is explicit. You may watch it by clicking here. Viewer discretion is advised.
Located 70 miles northwest of Washington, D.C., Smithsburg lies in Maryland’s 6th Congressional District, represented by Democrat David Trone, who says he’s monitoring the situation.

Multiple victims have been reported in a shooting in Smithsburg, Maryland, Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
“The suspect is no longer a threat to the community,” the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.
Lt. Joshua McCauley of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office told CNN that the scene remains active but that “the suspect is no longer a threat to the community.”
Maryland has some of the strictest gun laws in the country. The state increasingly regulates the sale, possession and use of firearms and ammunition.

What’s proposed by the Democrats and others is precisely the opposite of the solution needed to end these shootings, identifying good as evil, and evil as good.
That said, the Republicans don’t have and solid solutions either. And thus the debate never ends and the slaughters continue!
If you truly want to all-but rid America of these shootings and other public crimes, we only need to return to the Bible’s non-optional responsibility to defend ourselves, our families, and others. With nearly every law-abiding man armed ready to engage any active criminal, these shootings would be all-but eliminated overnight.
The Second Amendment will never accomplish this and is, instead, part of the problem.
America was sold down the river when the 18th-century founding fathers replaced Biblical responsibilities (based upon the moral law of God) for Enlightenment rights, and nothing demonstrates it better than the Second Amendment.
Think about it: The Amendment WITH the wording “shall not be infringed” is the MOST infringed, licensed, and limited Amendment of the entire twenty seven. Furthermore, a future generation of our posterity is likely to see the Second Amendment whittled away entirely or repealed altogether. This is inherent nature and danger of optional Enlightenment rights versus non-optional Biblical responsibilities, such as the following:
“Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword [or today’s equivalent] in their hand … this honor have all his saints. Praise ye Yah.” (Psalm 149:6-9)
“But if any provide not for his own, and especially for those of his own house [beginning with spiritual and physical protection], he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.” (1 Timothy 5:8)
Which is more potent: 1) An optional right, or 2) A non-optional responsibility?
Which is more likely to be infringed, licensed, and ultimately abolished altogether?
Which did the pre-Second Amendment Americans look to for their authority to bear arms, with little or nor infringement?

All these shootings are playing right into the hands of the left wing liberals. Each time it happens it builds their case to take away our guns, but that will create an even bigger problem. Should the government try to round up all guns, or even certain ones of them, what that will do is cause that second American revolution that’s been talked about for years now. People will not give up their guns willingly and that resistance will tear our country apart, even worse than the civil/race war of the 1850’s. It could well lead to the end of our constitutional republic. Sure makes me glad I’m old and hopefully won’t see that happen to the country that I devoted my life to for 26 years.

These so called mass shootings happen every weekend in democrat controlled cities, yet the never get any national coverage.
Smithsburg is still considered the National Capital Region. It is much closer to DC than, for example, Cumberland in western Maryland.
I used to live in Smithsburg. Sometimes, I would have to go into DC for business. It was a long drive, but not because of the ~70-mile distance. The traffic was horrible.
