-

On Wednesday, Rep. (D-Calif.), the former speaker of the House, received a subpoena in a criminal case in .

Tylease Alli, the reading clerk, shared Pelosi's statement on the House floor. However, it did not mention any details about the nature of the case.

“This is to notify you formally, pursuant to rule 8 of the rules of the House of Representatives, that I, the Honorable Nancy Pelosi, speaker emerita, and U.S. representative for the 11th congressional district of California, have been served with third-party subpoenas from the prosecution and defendant to produce documents in a criminal case in the United States district court for the northern district of California,” the statement declared.

“After consultation with the office of general counsel, I have determined that compliance with the subpoenas is consistent with the privileges and rights of the house,” it continued. “To the extent requires production of nonprivileged information the responses to the subpoenas will be identical. Signed, sincerely, Nancy Pelosi, speaker emerita.”

In October 2022, Pelosi's spouse, , suffered a fractured skull during a life-threatening home invasion.

In May of that year, Paul crashed the couple's Porsche on the way to their Napa estate after pulling out in front of a jeep. Officers noticed “objective” signs of intoxication and he was arrested days later for driving under the influence.

After entering a guilty plea, Paul received a five-day jail sentence. The Porsche, with a retail value of almost $170,000, went on sale.

A source with background knowledge told Fox News that the subpoena relates to the criminal trial of Paul Pelosi's attacker:

Pelosi's office declined to comment on an ongoing legal matter, but a source familiar with the situation told Fox News Digital the subpoena was related to the upcoming trial of Paul Pelosi's alleged assailant in a violent home invasion last year.

The man who allegedly attacked him, , is set to go on trial this month.
