Police Officer Charged With Murder Of TV Host

-

In a stunning twist, the police officer identified as a person of interest in the disappearance of famous Australian television presenter and his lover has turned himself in.

Authorities had begun an extensive search for Constable Beau Lamarre, 28, when he abruptly turned himself into a police station in suburban Sydney.

Officers subsequently charged the senior constable, previously attached to an elite unit, with killing his former boyfriend, TV host , 26, and Baird's new partner, Luke Davies, 29.

Neither Baird nor Davies' bodies have been found. Concerns about the missing couple grew after their bloodied belongings were found in a dumpster approximately 18 miles from where they were last seen.

Authorities found a large amount of blood at Baird's home and a projectile and cartridge case linked to a New South Wales Police service weapon belonging to Lamarre.

The Daily Beast has more:

“We still need to establish what the cause of death is,” Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty of the New South Wales homicide squad said. “We need to find the location of the bodies. It is a sad and tragic event.” A white van sought by police in connection with the case was located on Friday morning. Doherty claimed the van was used “to transport the bodies and dispose of the bodies.”

Lamarre, who joined the NSW Police in 2020, was in a relationship with Baird “which finished a couple of months ago, and so that's an obvious line of inquiry in relation to (a) domestic-style incident,” Doherty added.

The alleged killer had previously made headlines as an officer. In 2020, a video went viral in which Lamarre Tasered a suspect in the face. He was ultimately cleared of any wrongdoing following an internal investigation.

Before joining the force, he ran a now-defunct celebrity news site called the Australian Reporter, according to The Guardian. Videos and pictures online show Lamarre with the likes of Ryan GoslingMiley Cyrus, and Taylor Swift.

In 2014, Lamarre made headlines after he threw a note onto the stage during a Lady Gaga concert. The note thanked the singer for giving him the courage to come out to his parents. Gaga read the note in front of the entire stadium and invited Lamarre backstage after the show.
