Report: Judge Rejects Hunter Biden’s Attempt To Toss Federal Tax Charges

-

On Monday, a judge rejected Hunter Biden‘s request to dismiss federal tax charges.

CNN reported that Hunter was hit with nine counts on charges that include failure to file and pay taxes; evasion of assessment and false or fraudulent tax return.

Biden is facing up to 17 years in for his crimes.

Fox News has more:

Among the claims that U.S. District Judge Marc Scarsi dismissed in eight separate motions were that federal prosecutors supposedly caved to pressure from Republicans or that the younger Biden had immunity from a previous plea deal that he had negotiated.

The move comes after Hunter's lawyer, Abbe Lowell, made his case before the judge for three hours. Judge Scarsi said he would issue a ruling by April 17.

Prosecutors pushed back on the argument that the case was politically motivated, calling the claims a “fictitious narrative.”

“From this fairly unremarkable set of procedural events, the defendant concocts a conspiracy theory that the prosecution has ‘upped the ante' to appease politicians who have absolutely nothing to do with the prosecution and are not even members of the current Executive Branch,” prosecutors wrote.

, 54, has pleaded not guilty to failing to pay $1.4 million in between 2016 and 2019, while allegedly spending millions of dollars on , escorts, exotic cars and other big-ticket items.

Biden faces a separate criminal case in federal court in Delaware over -related charges.
