Report: The New York Times Confirms Hunter Biden Whistleblower Claim

-

A new report from The Times confirms a vital piece of information from an IRS whistleblower claiming constraints were placed on the federal investigation into Hunter Biden.

The New York Times reported that IRS supervisory special agent Gary Shapley's whistleblower testimony claimed that a mid-2022 bid by Delaware's U.S. Attorney to pursue charges in Washington, D.C., got rejected by the top federal prosecutor in the nation's capital.

“A similar request to prosecutors in the Central District of , which includes Los Angeles, was also rejected, Mr. Shapley testified,” the report added in the 21st paragraph. “A second former I.R.S. official, who has not been identified, told the same story. That episode was confirmed independently to The New York Times by a person with knowledge of the situation.”

The whistleblower further alleged that Weiss told him and a group of six other FBI and IRS agents that he would not ultimately be the “deciding official” when it came time to either charge the president's son or not and that he was denied special counsel status — which would allow him to pursue charges in jurisdictions outside of his own in Delaware — when he requested it.

Shapley's allegations paint a distinctly different picture than claims made by Attorney General Merrick Garland who has reiterated that Weiss has full autonomy in the case and told Senator Chuck Grassley (R-) that Weiss would be able to bring charges outside of Delaware.

“He was given complete authority to make all decisions on his own,” Garland said of Weiss. “I don't know how it would be possible for anybody to block him for bringing a prosecution given that he has that authority.”

Last week, Weiss struck a sweetheart deal with in which he pled guilty to tax crimes committed in 2017 and 2018 as well as admitted to the facts of a felony gun charge against him that will keep the president's son out of prison. (RELATED: Report: Hunter Biden To Plead Guilty To Tax, Gun Crimes)
