Republican Governor Blames Jan. 6 Panel After Phone Gets Hacked

-

South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem is furious after her personal phone number was leaked.

The Republican Governor said her phone was hacked following the release of her and her family's personal information, including her social security number, by the House Jan. 6 committee

“Callous mishandling of personal information has real world consequences,” Noem said in a statement. “If you get such a phone call from my number, know that I had no involvement.”

Noem said that South Dakota's Fusion Center, a state agency that compiles criminal intelligence, has been notified of the cell phone hack.

Noem said she also has asked U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland and to investigate the leak.

Earlier this month, The Washington Post reported nearly 2,000 Social Security numbers of former President Trump's closest allies, including former Cabinet members and Republican governors, were disclosed in a spreadsheet that the committee posted along with a number of other records. The document has since been taken down.

  1. In the U.S. Military, a Secret Clearance enables one to view/handle Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Spillage of PII is the same thing as allowing classified material into unclassified systems. It is punishable regardless of intent or lack thereof. Everyone on the J6 Committee needs to be held responsible.

    • I totally agree that the members of that kangaroo court should be held accountable for releasing the private information on people they did not like. Lets start with the top two, Fat Puss and the Lizard.

      • Let’s publish all the personal data for the committee members where everyone can see it. SS numbers, phone, address, dob, credit cards…

  2. My experience in the US Army 73-75 in Germany, we would often courier secret docs from battalion level to various artillery sites (I had a NAC secret clearance) and we had a driver and were armed with a .45. The consequences were dire if something nefarious happened to those documents so I was always more than happy to turn them over with a proper signature.
