Biden Border Patrol Duels With Texas Guard Over Migrant Deaths

ANALYSIS – In the latest example of how truly awful the border situation is under Joe Biden, the Border Patrol and Democrats are trying to accuse the Texas National Guard of preventing the rescue of three illegal migrants who drowned attempting to cross the Rio Grande.

The truth of course is far different and less dramatic. But all of this is part of dueling narratives between the state of Texas and Biden’s feds.

A duel where the Democrats keep lying.

What are the facts? Under orders from the Republican governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, The Texas Guard recently seized control of a state park on a two and one-half mile stretch of the border near Eagle Pass to stem the flow of illegals by shutting down a large staging area used by the migrants.

Abbott has also issued orders on where Border Patrol agents can and cannot aid illegal immigrants. This has the added benefit of preventing Biden’s Border Patrol from violating their duty to prevent crossings by instead aiding illegals to enter into the United States.

On Friday, Abbott bragged about evicting the hapless feds from the area. “We said, ‘We’ve had it,’” he told the crowd, condemning Team Biden’s almost nonexistent immigration and border control enforcement.

“We’re not going to let this happen anymore.”

However, the Biden Department of Justice (DOJ) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) both claim these efforts prevent Border Patrol agents from reaching even migrants in need of emergency assistance.

And they are using this latest tragedy to shift blame onto Texas. In a statement, the DHS said, as reported by the Houston Chronicle:

Tragically, a woman and two children drowned in the Shelby Park area of Eagle Pass, which was commandeered by the State of Texas earlier this week The Texas governor’s policies are cruel, dangerous, and inhumane, and Texas’s blatant disregard for federal authority over immigration poses grave risks. The State of Texas should stop interfering with the U.S. Border Patrol’s enforcement of U.S. law.

And other Democrats were quick to jump on board the Biden “false narrative train.”

U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar of Laredo, a top Democrat from Texas overseeing funding for DHS, said: “This is a tragedy and the state bears responsibility.”

According to Team Biden and the Democrats, the Border Patrol had learned of a group of six migrants in distress as they were trying to cross the Rio Grande near the area now controlled by the Texas Guard.

Agents called the Texas National Guard and Department of Public Safety officials but were unable to reach them. The Border Patrol then alerted soldiers at the entrance of the park but they prevented federal authorities from entering and coming to the aid of the migrants.

But as Hot Air reported:

The Texas Military Department [TMD] released its own statement disputing this story. It said that its personnel were notified of people in distress but could not find any illegal immigrants who needed assistance in the Rio Grande River. The department was later made aware of an incident nearby on the Mexican side of the river. The department’s help was not needed. The Texas Military Department said it had been in touch with Border Patrol Friday night and Border Patrol said Mexican authorities did not need Texas Military Department’s assistance.

“At no time did TMD security personnel along the river observe any distressed migrants, nor did TMD turn back any illegal immigrants from the US during this period,” it said.

TMD later added that the migrants were already dead when the Border Patrol contacted them.

“Claims that TMD prevented Border Patrol from saving the lives of drowning migrants are wholly inaccurate. At the time that Border Patrol requested access, the drownings had occurred, Mexican authorities were recovering the bodies, and Border Patrol expressed these facts to the TMD personnel on site.”

Let’s be clear, if the Border Patrol under Biden wasn’t being ordered to essentially help illegals enter the U.S. and stop state and local efforts to try to stem the illegal alien tide, none of this would be happening.

Everything bad occurring at the border, including all deaths and related suffering, are almost exclusively Biden’s fault.
