PAUL’S DAILY BRIEF (PDB) Friday – Russia and China’s cooperation in the Arctic is a rising nuclear threat to the U.S. and NATO allies. The power struggle has expanded to a new, previously ice-locked frontier: the Arctic.
While Beijing and Moscow have been working to establish a strategic foothold in the region for more than a decade, US and NATO are just now waking up to the danger.
Specifically, in any nuclear exchange, Moscow would likely fire long-range ballistic missiles — from ballistic missile submarine bases near the Kola Peninsula — through the poorly surveyed airspace over Greenland.
Hindered by low visibility in the Arctic, U.S. forces would be ill-prepared to detect and counter the strike.
MEANWHILE – China Coast Guard now operating in the Bering Sea for the first time. This, as Beijing increasingly uses the Northern Sea Route for shipping.
FOR YOUR EYES ONLY – Here’s a roundup of today’s other top defense stories from conservative national security expert PAUL CRESPO.
Not the President’s Daily Brief, but almost as good – PAUL’S DAILY BRIEFING – the PDB:

Bipartisan Senators want answers from DOD on quantum sensing effort — whose promises include jam-resistant position-navigation-timing systems — and whether the U.S. military can keep pace with China in the field.
HOMELAND SECURITY
National Guard, deployed across Southeast, sees ‘long recovery’ ahead as Helene death toll rises. Troops have fanned out across states and communities hardest hit by the hurricane.
RESPECT – National Guard soldiers who lost their homes are still reporting for Helene duty.
POLITICS

SPACE THREAT
NRO’s new proliferated spy satellite constellation moving into ‘operational phase.’
‘You can’t hide’: Spy agency will have 100 new sats on orbit by years-end. Until recent decades, the National Reconnaissance Office wouldn’t acknowledge even one satellite it had in space.
