ANALYSIS – While former President wasn't at his best during his first, and likely only, debate with Vice President , having the two liberal ABC moderators sabotaging him every step of the way, didn't help.

And they did much of it under the guise of “fact-checking,” which is the left's way of essentially making counterarguments to conservative opinions while pretending to be neutral.

So, as expected,  and spent all of Tuesday night's debate “fact-checking” Trump's comments while giving a free ride to Harris. Instead, they allowed.

WEDNESDAY – ‘Contested deployment.' Air Reserve Base personnel, local officials mull response to hypothetical EMP attack.

Imagine waking up on a typical Tuesday in the future only to find out nothing works — the light switch by your bed, the traffic light down the street, no water from the tap.

Soon, it is learned that an adversary detonated a nuclear device high above the eastern seaboard. It's high enough that it hasn't destroyed cities. But it's powerful enough to cause an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) knocking out power transformers and satellite communications. Damage cascades, disabling health care, food distribution.

Simultaneously, Westover gets the call to start mobilizing. The base needs to ready its huge C-5M Super Galaxy aircraft to begin ferrying troops and supplies overseas to meet the threat.

“We need to get those eight C-5s in the air, and we have no way of getting my 2,800 reservists to the base.”

China, Russia, North Korea and Iran know they cannot go toe-to-toe with American military forces on the battlefield. But if they can slow America's response, they can still win.

FOR YOUR EYES ONLY – Here's a roundup of today's other top defense stories from conservative national security expert PAUL CRESPO.

Not the President's Daily Brief, but almost as good – PAUL'S DAILY BRIEFING – the PDB:

NATIONAL SECURITY

Russia launches massive naval and air drills with China.  The exercises span both hemispheres and include China in joint maneuvers.

BIDEN-HARRIS AFGHAN DISASTER

Congress bestows its highest honor – the Congressional Gold Medal – on the 13 troops killed during the disastrous 2021 Afghanistan withdrawal.

POLITICS

The forever wars were a mistake. Supporting Ukraine is not. JD Vance is right about Iraq, but wrong about Ukraine.

THEY SHOULD COMMEMORATE GIVING THE TALIBAN BILLIONS IN US MILITARY EQUIPMENT ON THE 20th ANNIVERSARY – Biden and Kamala Harris will commemorate the 23rd anniversary of the September 11 terror attacks on Wednesday with visits to each of three sites of the terror attacks.

A look at false and misleading claims made during Trump and Harris' debate. In their first and perhaps only debate, former President and Vice President described the state of the country in distinctly different ways.

GIVE IT A REST, DEMOCRATS – Dem lawmakers demand Army sanction Trump over Arlington Cemetery visit. The trio of House Democrats says its to “avoid future abuse of this sacred site and its employees.”

House GOP lawmakers to subpoena VA over decision to register voters at medical facilities before presidential election. They want to identify its third-party partners conducting the efforts at some VA hospitals and clinics in battleground states.

US POWER OVERSEAS

USS America paused for first South Korea port call after amphibious exercise. This, the amphibious assault ship's first-ever visit to the country in the ship's nearly 10-year history.

Submarine USS Georgia arrives in the Middle East region. The potent guided missile sub joins two aircraft carrier strike groups in the region.

New Air Mobility boss promises to continue command's transformation. The organization's sweeping preparations for the prospect of war in the Pacific have picked up speed in recent years.

Don't over-concentrate US forces in the Middle East. US military bases in the Persian Gulf confront two problems: 1) The growing missile and drone capabilities of the Islamic Republic of Iran. 2) Some Arab partners restrict our use of bases. They may even wield the bases as political leverage to influence U.S. policy.

Explosion reported at US military facility near Baghdad airport one day ahead of Iranian president's visit.

ISRAEL'S WAR AGAINST TERROR

YES – DON'T PROTEST IN A COMBAT ZONE – Blinken calls for ‘fundamental changes' after Turkish- American woman protester accidentally killed by Israeli forces last week.

Israeli military reveals brutal conditions 6 murdered hostages endured in a Gaza tunnel. The hostages appear to have spent the last weeks of their lives in a tight and humid Hamas tunnel about 20 meters underground.

Israel launches multiple airstrikes on southern Lebanon, killing Hezbollah special forces commander.

CHINA THREAT

AUKUS, other agreements likely having ‘galvanizing effect' in Beijing: Aussie ambassador to US. The plethora of recent regional (anti-China) pacts is giving Chinese war planners a warning: “the correlation of forces is looking more complex than it used to only five years ago.”

HMMM? – Chinese troops to join Brazil's military drills with US forces for the first time.

RUSSIA THREAT – UKRAINE WAR

Iran sending Russia batch of close-range missiles. They could start using them to attack Ukraine “within weeks.”

US to consider Ukraine missile request as Russia gets Iran help. The U.S. would hold talks on Ukraine's use of Western long-range weapons against Russia, after confirming Moscow had received ballistic missiles from Iran.

Ukraine's fire-dropping drones can find, shock, kill Russian troops. It has been using first person view (FPV) drones with a thermite spray capability over forested areas where Russian troops and equipment are hiding, a tactic that can be a legitimate weapon of war, but only under strict circumstances.

Why there's no easy answer to Russia's glide bombs. As the West hunts for a way to help Ukraine stem Russia's devastating glide bomb attacks, most suggested methods come with drawbacks.

NORTH KOREA THREAT

North Korea's Kim vows to make his nuclear force ready for combat with US. This, after the country disclosed a new platform likely designed to fire more powerful intercontinental ballistic missiles targeting the U.S. mainland.

SPACE THREAT

How the Space Force can better tell its story. In February, national news and panic spiked around a possible new Russian on-orbit nuclear anti-satellite weapon. Senior Biden officials responded publicly to provide context, answer questions, and soothe anxieties. But one voice that the American public needed to hear – of the U.S. Space Force – remained silent.

Boeing to launch space-based quantum networking demo in 2026. The technological feat, if successful, could help change the way the military processes data and identifies targets.

INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

Japan's largest warship headed to California for F-35B Lightning II Joint Strike Fighter testing. The Izumo-class helicopter destroyer JS Kaga (DDH-184) essentially looks like, and functions as a carrier for V/STOL aircraft.

Jamaica to deploy a limited number of soldiers and police to help fight gangs in Haiti. It will send two dozen soldiers and police officers to Haiti this week to boost a U.N.-backed mission led by Kenya.

Turkey advances plan for a national air-defense shield. Its Çelik Kubbe – Steel Dome – air defense system, is designed with advanced, multilayered defense capabilities.

US MILITARY

Expect Air Force's first robot wingmen to be AMRAAM ‘trucks.' Increment-one CCAs will essentially haul extra AIM-120 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles for F-35s and F-22s.

WATCH the Wings of Blue parachute team jump as they prep for Misawa Air Fest 2024.

WATCH time-lapse video of the Virginia-class fast attack sub, the USS North Carolina, entering dry dock in Pearl Harbor.

Army units able to communicate more dispersed in recent exercise. Networking capability upgrades are allowing Army units to fight in a more dispersed manner and at lower levels of classification.

PARTY BOAT! – US Navy is about to launch a submarine built for a fully integrated, mixed-gender crew, the first of its kind.

Staff shortages and training faults hamper Navy ship upkeep at sea, sailors tell GAO. The Navy doesn't have enough manpower and training to keep its ships in shape for combat.
