The Biden administration announced Thursday morning that Israel will implement four-hour ceasefires every day in north Gaza to assist with alleviating the humanitarian situation on the ground.
The daily humanitarian pauses will allow people to flee the ongoing hostilities between Israel and Hamas.
National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby told reporters the announcement would be made three hours before.
“And we've been told by the Israelis that there will be no military operations in these areas over the duration of the pause and that this process is starting today,” he added.
Kirby deferred to the Israel Defense Forces for information on how Gaza residents would receive updates and where safe passage corridors will be established for civilians.
