Tens of thousands of protesters and striking workers have paralyzed parts of Italy this week, targeting the country’s military and commercial links with Israel. The wave of unrest follows Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s refusal to recognize Palestinian statehood — a move embraced just yesterday by the U.K., Canada, Australia, and Portugal.
Organized by major unions such as CGIL and USB, along with grassroots labor groups, the strike movement has spanned multiple sectors, including transportation, education, and logistics. Demonstrators accuse the government of complicity in what they describe as genocide in Gaza. Their demands include an immediate halt to arms shipments to Israel, the recognition of Palestine, and broader humanitarian concessions.
In Milan, clashes broke out near the central train station as police in riot gear used tear gas to disperse crowds. Authorities report several injuries on both sides. Activists accused police of heavy-handed tactics aimed at protecting weapons shipments.

The most significant disruptions occurred at key ports. Dockworkers in Genoa, Trieste, and Livorno blocked access roads and turned away trucks in what organizers called a “port blockade” to prevent Italian infrastructure from being used to transit military supplies to Israel. In Ravenna, local officials stopped two trucks allegedly carrying weapons, with the mayor and regional authorities backing the move. Protesters hailed the decision; government allies denounced it as unauthorized interference.

Meloni’s right-wing coalition has maintained a firm line, calling the protests disruptive and economically damaging. Her office dismissed the strikes as politically motivated and pledged no change in policy under pressure.
Union leaders claim the strikes have already cost millions in port delays, with cargo piling up and port traffic partially paralyzed. While the government has downplayed the long-term impact, tensions remain high as demonstrations continue across the country.

Italy has always been afflicted with communist trade unions intent on destroying the country.
Fire them, export them, and hire someone who wants to work.
Easy fix. Roll up the paddy wagons and haul them all of to jail.
Unfortunately Italy has a long history of communists causing problems. Particularly in the unions.
Our hearts and prayers are with the Meloni Administration. May she keep doing the right thing and not cave to the barbarians.
The reckoning had to happen sooner or later. I guess it’s better to deal with it now, before more Mohammedans could terrorize.
Italy is reaping the Whirlwind” for Arab and Palestinian immigration policies. Cheap labor expectations started this fiasco, and I think that the only way to defuse the reality is to start deporting them. Jordan found out long ago that the Palestinians will take life from anyone who sleeps with them. Jordan forced the Palestinians out. Italy is surrendering its sovereignty to the evil core of Militant Islam. Will the Italians try to change this invasion and occupation? I don’t think that they have the courage to change the paradigm. The corruption may be too deep to survive. Will the Mullahs sit in the Vatican this year, or next.
