The deadly Sept. 11, 2012, Benghazi attack that killed four Americans — Ambassador Chris Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty — returned to the spotlight Friday with the arrest of a key suspect.
The suspect, Zubayr Al-Bakoush, arrived at Joint Base Andrews early Friday and will face federal charges for his alleged role in the attack that killed four Americans.
Attorney General Pam Bondi said Al-Bakoush is charged in an eight-count indictment that includes murder and terrorism offenses, calling the arrest the result of a prolonged effort to track down those responsible.

The Benghazi assault, carried out by armed militants, sparked years of political controversy and congressional investigations into U.S. diplomatic security. A GOP-led panel found serious security lapses under then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Al-Bakoush joins a short list of individuals prosecuted over the attack. Libyan militant Ahmed Abu Khattala was previously convicted and is serving a lengthy prison sentence.
No trial date has been announced as the Justice Department prepares to proceed in federal court in Washington.
