Prominent Gun Group Files Lawsuit Against Unconstitutional Regulations

-

The pro- non-profit Foundation (SAF) has filed another lawsuit over ridiculous unconstitutional regulations. The case in question, B&L Productions v. Newsom, hopes to undo the benign-sounding Senate Bill 264.

The bill, signed into law by Governor Newsom in 2021, bans gun shows on state property, effectively ending gun shows on all public properties.

SAF founder and Executive Vice President Alan M. Gottlieb called the ban a “total deprivation of rights under the color of law, including the First Amendment rights of free speech and of assembly, and the 14th Amendment's equal protection under the law … the regulatory ban regime now in place in California applies to any gun show on public property, anywhere in the state…Yet, the state is prohibiting constitutionally protected activities that are common all over the country and are already highly regulated,” Gottlieb added, summing up the egregious nature of the situation.

But Gottlieb wasn't done there:

Like it or not gun shows are public forums where like-minded people can meet and discuss various issues, engage in firearm sales and purchases, learn about gun safety and enjoy the camaraderie inherent at such events. Obviously, the defendants don't like that, but they simply cannot violate constitutional rights to satisfy a personal disdain.

The defendants in the case — besides Governor Newsom — are “Attorney General Robert Bonta in his official capacity as Attorney General of the State of California, Karen Ross, in her official capacity as Secretary of California Department of Food & Agriculture, and Todd Spitzer, in his personal and official capacity as District Attorney of Orange County.”

Back in 2021 the bill's sponsor Senator Dave Min (D-Irvine), who is coincidentally a UC Irvine law professor, said he introduced the bill to “effectively end the ‘gun show loophole' and eliminate the sale of ghost , straw party sales, gun thefts from careless vendors and other unlicensed conveyances of firearms that all too often occur at gun shows.”

In a statement, Min declared that the move decisively signaled that “the state of California will not lend its endorsement to the proliferation of more guns into our communities, which are already plagued with gun violence.”

  1. The whole gun scam IS unconstitutional and they know it but don’t care. Demonrats have the power and want complete control to rule not represent.

  2. I fear the Invasion of the Body Snatchers actually occurred and the descendants af the alien bean pods live today on the Left Coast, genetically serving the Collective Swarm far above human rights of the individual. They are acting like a swarm of non-human insects and Goblin Nuisance is their new Ant Queen, cut from the same cloth as his Auntie.
